Not who you think GUS will pick, but who you'd pick if YOU were in charge?

I'd like to see 4-2-3-1 and see us really have a go at Derby who are in somewhat of a slump.

Clough Junior v Gus

Cook for Dunk. Reyes at right back if fit. Two banks of four in a 4-4-2 with Kazenga itching to get on if Noone comes up against a full back he cannot beat. And Barnes up front if Buckley is not fit. And I would like to see if Buckley can play a whole game? And Vicente if he is fit to play at all?

You are rather out of touch.

Cook is at Bournemouth
Reyes and Vicente both out till at least Saturday

I just can't see how a midfield with LuaLua, Buckley and Noone all starting could work. It's a fantasy formation best suited to video games.

The goalkeeper and back four are obvious, because we have no options: Ankergren, Calderon, Greer, Dunk, Vincelot.

I don't expect Gus to drop Paynter, and Mackail-Smith will always start if fit, so thats the front two.

He suggested in his press conference a few players may be a little tired so he might freshen things up a bit. So that can only be the midfield for me. There's no way we can afford to drop Bridcutt.

So I'd have thought the only likely changes are Sparrow in for Navarro or Harley and an outside chance of Buckley starting too. Purely based on the intention to start him away at Birmingham until the injury warm up.

I did say at the start, not who you think GUS will play, but who YOU would play if YOU were in charge... Also, why do you think Gus won't drop Paynter??? He has done very little so far...

And why is playing 2 holding midfielders fantasy?

Will be the same team as Saturday

Sent from my iPhone using a goat

Incorrect, pre match conference says players are knackered, there will be changes. Can't see there being many though. My guess:

---------------Ankergen
Calderon---Dunk--Greer---Vincelot
----------------Bridcutt
--------Sparrow---------Navarro
-------Buckley------------Lua Lua
-------------------CMS

Bench

Brezovan
El Abd
Harley
Noone
Barnes

Starting team I would like to see. I would like to see Cook recalled and let them (Bournemouth) have Paynter, Hoskins and Harley.

We can only play on one wing at a time, so teams with three, or even four wingers, might be deemed Gung-ho.

Yeah fair enough. I'm not saying Paynter has done anything. I'd just be suprised. He's wanted him for a long time, he's got him, I don't think he's going to cast him aside after a handful of apperances.

I think playing two holding mids with three attacking players would be suicidal. You're playing three players who want to run at the opposition. There'd be nothing in the middle to gel the team together, no one to take it from the holding mids, and give it to the attacking players. You'd end up with two opposition strikers and four midfielders between your holding players and your attacking players. Kaz, Buckley and Noone would struggle to get the ball. Playing Navarro alongside Bridcutt isn't that smart, a big advantage of Bridcutt is his pace and energy to go from left to right, protecting the back four. If Navarro is alongside, you're saying they have half a side each, you totally stifle him. Navs has to be slightly ahead of him and the central attacking mid has to be deeper to offer a creative passing outlet rather than someone who's going to turn and run. Just my opinion and realise this thread is just what the individual poster would like to see though!

Sparrow and Navarro ... oh please No

I think as above but start Harley (as much as it pains me) instead of Sparrow ... Hoskins up with CMS

Not comfortable with it but lacking options. Gus will play Paynter if his view of Derby says he needs the hold up guy

I'd take a draw despite their wretched form

Why should it pain you so, Harley is improving by the week and remember he didn't play competitive football for 12 months ( as indeed neither has Paynter), was good value on Saturday, chased balls, made tackles etc., generally put in a good shift and I am not that sure why he was subbed on Saturday, a point of view shared by a good few on here. Remember also he has scored two good and welcome goals this season. Forget Sparrow!
