All three, but I prefer cheese to a dessert. I sometimes have an extra starter as well.

Where’s the option for starter and dessert? I find most main courses a disappointment in comparison to the starter and dessert, but then I’m not a fat greedy bastard

I would generally say all three. I’ll certainly have a starter unless they all sound terrible. Dessert if I can squeeze it in.

I love cheese but I do agree with Jay Rayner that, in a restaurant, it’s a triumph of shopping.

In the Ivy on Thursday afternoon i had just a main of Beef Fillet accompanied by a delicious truffle potato purée, creamed spinach & asparagus. I didn’t have any room for dessert but found some room for a second Old Faithful. On a side note I had a couple goodbye drinks in Browns opposite which rather sadly is now closed.

Deserts are for women, girls and girly men.
And Percy Hobart, Michael O'Moore Creagh, William Gott, John Campbell, Frank Messervy,
John Harding, George Erskine and Lewis Lyne.
Obviously.

If I am feeling posh like Chicken Run, I go to Burger King.

Agree about the triumph of shopping quote. I don’t have a particularly sweet tooth though, and am rarely excited by the dessert offering. Things which do excite me are old school desserts like creme brûlée, trifle or treacle tart. I did have an apple ice cream with white apple chocolate a few months back; that was great. Otherwise it’s some rank cheeses.

My weakness is chocolate. If there’s a triple chocolate pudding in the offing I’m in there every time. Same with sticky toffee pudding.

Sticky toffee pudding would definitely sway me as well.
