Must agree with El Pres, the cloud of 'I'm a better fan' hangs over far too many threads at the moment.

I probably won't be at Spurs, as I won't know if I'm working on Saturday until later this week, much too late to sort a ticket.

Will be gutted to miss out, and if I'm free I'll probably go up there on the off chance for a home end ticket. But to be honest strictly on AWAY games attended the past couple of years I don't deserve one, and I think that's a better guide than how long you've been going/whether you were at Hereford etc etc.

Away games require a particular dedication, and in my opinion only, you go to enough 3-0 defeats in Yorkshire you probably deserve a Spurs ticket.

As a STH i don't think i'm a "better" fan than anyone else. QPR was my first away game since Cardiff, so the fact that i didn't get a Spurs ticket will probably please some. I'm not bitter towards the club or anyone else who got one. But as STH's are currently the lifeline of the club they should have got some sort of priority. When we get Falmer there will probably be less STH's so this kind of priority could be needed to get more people to buy one.

It's a good job most STH's don't have that attitude and DID buy them for this season because if they didn't we wouldn't have had a club at the start of the season to follow.

STH's stump up huge amounts of money normally without knowing what division we'll be in the following season why shouldn't they have priority for tickets?

as a sth, I don't feel I am a better fan than anyone else. Sheer economics (2 kids that I have to pay for as well) means that I only attend a couple of away games a season...but why shouldn't I have the option of first refusal?
You lot start thinking of paying out near on £1,000 probably in March, to keep the club going

Of course we know what the "rules" are about getting tickets..that's why a lot of us are sth..so that we can sit with our mates every week, and be assured a ticket for crewe as well as leeds. I have been a sth since the 80s when we were in Div 1...so where is the loyalty

Another mighty cock up by the Club...seems to be getting worse every season. Whats wrong with people being able to book online? Why are we still operating like a club in the Dark Ages?

How about Platinum Membership for people who bought Season tickets when we were at Gillingham? :jester:

I bought one of those as it guaranteed me a ticket when we moved from Gillingham to Withdean in October. It was the first time that I realised that the board were economical with the truth........we didn't return to Withdean until the following season. There was some half baked excuse about delays at Withdean that I believed at the time....now I just live with the delays and spin as I am unable to transfer my support to another team :)

Why not tickets for us gay Brighton fans, it is just typical of the homophobia that exists against us. We have not had a decent pink away kit for over ten years now, it's a disgrace, we keep this town economically viable over the winter when the tourists are not around too.

I suspect that if the boot was on the other foot, and the Albion had a HOME match against Spurs, then the regular away fans would not have been carping like a bunch of 6 year olds that they could not see the match.

As a HOME season ticket holder this gives you rights and priveleges in relation to HOME matches, end of story.

You know the rules when you bought a season ticket this year, no one forced you to. When people were scrambling around for Leeds tickets a couple of months ago there were no whinges from non STH, and the same will be true against Ipswich and West Ham. However some people (the usual suspects of course) are already clearing their throats (and it makes a change for them to make some noise) about Rotherham away of course.

All this 'I am a better fan than you rubbish' is smug sanctimonious twaddle from a bunch of Daily Mail readers.

Smug sanctimonious twaddle? Pot, kettle and black! The majority of regular away fans you speak of are probably season ticket holders anyway, so that argument is invalid. Anyone who lives local and only goes to away matches because "Withdean is a dump" is basically a fair weather fan anyway who only puts money into the coffers of other clubs. All very nice visiting The Stadium of light, Upton park etc. Those who've stumped up crazy amounts of money just after Christmas and spend wet Tuesday nights sitting on a lump of Mechano are more deserving IMO.

What rules when you bought a season ticket? In recent years, the club seem to make them up as they go along, eg Grimsby. Prior to the AMS, the principle of Season ticket holders first always applied. It's a common principle at the majority of clubs. Even with the introduction of the AMS, the lions share ratio was always meant to be for season ticket holders.

For the record, I DID get a Spurs ticket and next season I won't be renewing my season ticket for multiple reasons, so I have no particular axe to grind. If anything, the present scheme would benefit me next season.

And I'd rather inhale my own vomit than read the Daily Mail! Right, it's nearly 1.30. Time to take up my position in block E with all the other STH elite

For what it's worth, I do think STH's should have had 24/48 hours priority in relation to Spurs tickets, or perhaps be guaranteed 75% of the tickets and the remainder going into a lottery or first come first served. I am an exile, so go to mainly away games and try to get to Withdean once or twice a season. Missed out on a West Ham ticket, but that's life, no point whining about it.

However, if every STH had applied for a Spurs ticket then there would still have been at least 600+ of them who went without a ticket, and then we would have more carping.

Hopefully when Falmer arrives the club can afford to buy a more sophisticated system, but until then we will have to make do with a Blue Peter style sticky black plastic job, that is adequate for 95% of all games.

See you at Bramall Lane and Ninian Park, don't forget your cocoa!

How about a scheme where season ticket holders AND people who go to games regularly - home and away - get a 48 hour head start ?

Would give them advantage over the glory boys.
