King is a wanker, but fair do's to their team, we should give them credit. They knocked it around and played some good stuff, but just lacked a cutting edge. They STILL had 3 players up front during extra time, even after they'd taken that 2-0 lead. Stupid ? Probably. But respect to them for making it one hell of a tie, and I honestly don't mean that in a piss-taking way.
We rode our luck, didn't play particularly well, but defended like Titans and never gave up, even when all looked lost. Lesser sides would have caved in and given up after that 2nd Swindon goal, but the heart and spirit in the team drove them on when we threw caution to the wind and went all-out, more in desperation than anything at the death. And just in the nick of time, it paid off.
They knocked it around it's true. But it's easy to knock it about when the other team is standing off - once we decided to attack, we had two great chances in the second half of extra time even before Virgo scored.
I know it's a good laugh with Andy King, and I was one of those giving him stick behind the dugout - but what did he actually do or say that was so terrible ?
I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate your plucky team on their sterling performance, and you personally on the honourable and modest way in which you both approached the tie and reviewed it during and after each of the games.
However, I'm not going to, so instead I'd like to quote a very good friend of mine, Nelson Muntz, and just say
HA HA!
PS I've heard Thomas Cook have some great late deals to the Costa Brava if you get in quick.
