Royal Sovereign Lighthouse finishes its service

Royal Sovereign Lighthouse was built by Trinity House in 1971 and decommissioned as an aid to navigation on 21 March 2022

Have only just seen this.
Always stared out at sea at the 'office chair' when growing up.
A historical landmark for those of Sussex.
A shame that it has to be demolished, rather than leave as unmanned and still useful.

The tower is going to be saved and be part of a new Maritime Centre in Bexhill.

When I first moved here I could see the lighthouse from my flat window. Going to seem strange not seeing it out at sea when I walk along the front.

We used to go out there on the Waverley paddle steamer back in the day. Great fun.

Bet you were popular with your mates at school your dad owning a speed boat. All my dad owned was a Ford Anglia.
