If stains choke under pressure and Coventry get an early goal then Westham could go up, but thats a long shot imo. If stains score early they could rack up a cricket score.

I dont care really, stains will come straight back down as they'll need 10 new players at least. Their flukey home form wont be repeated at that level and their away form is poor. Would be funny if West ham went up and they still sacked Allerdice.

I would prefer West Ham to go up as I think Southampton will be a more beatable team than the hammers next season (especially if a prem club comes in for Mr Lambert)

That being said, can't see it happening sadly.

I quite like watching fans of other clubs CRYING on the telly. If Saints win, WH fans will not cry, as they know the play-offs are by far the most likely outcome anyway. If Saints blow it, however, the water level in the Solent will rise by a couple of inches, as 30,000 Southampton fans CRY and CRY and CRY. That.

Would be very funny if it turned out that Adkins couldn't 'keep up'

I have seen a lot of comments in the Southampton evening echo malong the lines of "We have been first or second all season, so of course we are going up." So on that count, I would love to see them slip to third.

On the other hand, as most of my friends locally are saints fans, I want them to go up for their sakes, and for the possibility of having premiership football just down the road.

And i can't stand Allardyce, whereas I think Adkins is basically not too bad - has just said a few really stupid things on occasion which have wound up opposing things - including myself. After we beat them earlier in the season, his comment in the next Echo was still "We will still win this league"!. which they haven't. Maybe he feels he has to say that for the fans and the players. Gus is either more circumspect or more realistic, or both.

Meant "opposing fans" rather than "opposing things"

I see no point having an opinion because Southampton will beat Coventry and go up.

Everyone knows Adkins is just a puppet for Wilkins anyway.

Don't like Southampton but I loathe West Ham. Horrible club, horrible fans (you did not win the World Cup you morons) and now they're blessed with wide boy owners and Fat Sam their failure to reach the Prem would be a perfect end to the season for me. I hope Blackpool win the playoffs again-West Ham fans would be apopleptic.

If West Ham don't go up, they're likely to carry on spunking money on players' wages like there's no tomorrow, and they have parachute payments too.

But can you see Lambert staying on the South Coast if Saints don't go up?

I actually quite like Nigel Adkins. He knows how to get up people's noses (especially over-precious Brighton fans), but also knows who to put together a winning football team. Sam Allardyce is miserable sod who plays ugly football.

Either way it's a win-win for me though. Is Saints go up, fair play to them and I can act all gracious towards my Southampton-supporting mate. If they blow it then I can rip him a second arsehole.

Both games are on TV Saints on BBC, West Ham on sky

I don't understand why this is relevant. We have a game at exactly the same time, so the information is pointless.

I think it would be funny if Southampton fail to go up after the season they've had. I'm also more likely to go there next season than West Ham. I think it's quite likely both will go up anyway, as the teams in the play-off places are mostly there because nobody in the top half has seemed capable of putting a run together since Christmas (apart from Reading, obviously).

In a crater in the sea.
According to the reverse of my Ladbrokes accumulator slip, Coventry have only won 5% of their away games. I can't see it, but I'd love West Ham to finish 2nd.

I really hope Southampton get automatic and West Ham lose in the play offs. I would love to see fat Sam fail to take them to the premiership with the budget he has.

Over there
I would love it if west ham had serious crowd trouble, leading to a 40 minute delay. Southampton lose by one goal and for 40 minutes are in a state of nerves while west ham try to extend their 1 goal lead and overcome the goal difference.

The tension gets too much and southampton fans boil over and cause trouble.

In a quickly convened disciplinary hearing they are both deducted 12 points for their crowd troubles, pushing them down into the play offs. Blackpool get the last automatic promotion spot. Birmingham and Cardiff then beat Saints and Hammers in the play offs.

The failure to get promotion hits both teams hard, their top talents abandon ship, their backers withdraw their support and the clubs start next season on the back foot. No top stars, with little financial backing for replacements, they become average teams. Frustrated the fans stay away and then the teams find themselves fighting relegation next year, with both managers not lasting past christmas. 12 easy points for Brighton.

Goes without saying that it's not likely to happen, though. But it's what I would like.

Wow, you have a fantastically vivid imagination. I like the cut of your jib sir.
I'm so undecided, I thought I wanted wet sham to get second place over stains but really can't stand Allerdyce. He thinks he's such a great manager, not so long ago he was saying he could manage any team in the world including Barcelona or Real.
This deserves a Harry Hill style "Adkins versus Allerdyce? Fiiiiiiiiiiiiigggghtttttttt

West Ham to go up. That 6-0 has to count for something.

Besides I've got a few West Ham mates, none from Southampton

Saints deserve to go up. They play good football and Adkins has bought well. I have always liked West Ham in the past but the lardy arsed one has destroyed that.......and Nolan is a prize cock too.
