They were compareing Southamptons points deduction, with that of Leeds on radio this morning, saying they could still make play offs??..What a load of bollocks, main difference is, Leeds still retained a good/average squad of players.Saints have a pile of pants,,wont make top half in my opinon, not a threat at all.

Difference between us and Southampton was that we had a fantastic siege Mentality and the perfect manager to work on something like that.

I doubt if Wise would have ever been good at any other situation than the one we were under. - 15 , all our best players sold , no wages to pay and a squad full of lower league journeymen and untried kids. What we achieved with that is simply unbelievable and that was one of the best seasons in my life as a Leeds fan.

I doubt if Southampton can create that mentality as they have nothing to work on. The entire football league were against us and we used it to our advantage. Whenever the decisions didn't go our way or the luck didn't go our way in a game , it only fired up our boys more in that season , the crowd followed suit.

Southampton don't have that passion or mentality IMO

Leeds retained hardly any good players the year they went down, they sold the likes of Kilgallon, Blake, Healy, Cresswell, Derry ect.
Southampton still have a very capable side at league one level with the likes of Lallana (FLAIR), Rasiak, Saganowski, Kelvin Davis, Paul Wotton, Jason Euell, Lancashire.

Having said that I would say Charlton, Norwich, Leeds ect will be our main threats not Southampton.

Quite a few Leeds fans commented on how they were enjoying lower league football that season, do you still feel the same way or have you had enough of the lower leagues yet?

With the Prem constantly loading and reloading with foreign stars, the effect has been to actually force the lower divisions into hosting the once-big clubs that didn't quite manage to keep up with the competition.

At a time when some once-grand clubs with decent fan-bases making demands and expectations are kicking around our part of the world, we are looking to go on the ascendancy.
The quality in the division makes it tougher to make the grade for the top positions, but The Albion are in a brighter dawn than we've seen since the 1970's/early 80's - so we CAN compete.
Having said that, our players now have to be mercurial talents, and Russ Slade's application will need to evoke a new vital team into playing the football that shows what the sport is intended to be - not just a workplace for players 'turning in a shift'.

With good team-work and intent, these players we have really can make a name for themselves.

It's all up to our lads, but we need not worry about the 'big clubs' - we need to let them know that big names mean nothing once they are on the same level playing field as The ALBION

Yes , I belong to the majority of the Leeds fans who have enjoyed life in League 1 so far. Our first season was such a roller coaster ride , as much as I felt disgusted for staying in this league , the drama and the comeback seen in that season made me warm up to this League. I personally accepted reality whole heartedly after we signed Grayson. Till then , it was a case of false dawn with Wise and Macca. Once a proper Leeds man and a proper manager took us over in Grayson , he set the record straight and a lot of the Leeds fans came to terms with League 1 as well as started enjoying the rebuilding under Grayson.

The last 2 years at this level would have been much much better if not for that evil insane bugger at the top , Ken Bates.
