IIRC the first time I saw it used was when someone had posted a highly dubious rumour about something on the board, and someone simply posted 'sauce?'

Now this in itself is a nice twist, as it is a correct use, as in, meaning is the rumour a bit cheeky, with the question mark denoting it is a query

It's pronunciation being the same as source makes it a whizzbanger of a dual-meaning example, and most deserving of commendation, rather than disdain
