Palace boss pleads for Johnson suitors

Hammers Johnson sale snubbed

Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie has asked Premiership clubs to buy striker Andrew Johnson as he wants to leave the Eagles during the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old striker has been linked with a number of top-flight sides, while a £5.50 price offer to West Ham in December was snubbed by the Hammers as derisory.

"There is every chance of AJ leaving during the window," said Dowie.

"We do not want a Premiership return, as all those teams have the best players and we cannot beat them really - AJ is a bald diving pelican man."

Dowie went on to say that he had consulted with loyal fans from Redhill and East Grinstead at a fans forum and the consensus was that Palace are where they belong to be in amongst the also rans in the Championship.
