Slightly off topic, but Whistling in the Dark by Easterhouse is f***ing brilliant.

I read somewhere, that the whistle bit wasn’t meant to be in the finished song. It said Otis was writing it still when he recorded the song we now know, as a demo for his band,but hadn’t written a third verse for it so he just whistled for the last bit he was going to write later.

Unfortunately, he died before he could complete it and Atlantic put it out as a single.

Steve Cropper finished it and had to deal with Otis imitating seagulls as well as whistling. I have always assumed it was a nod to the Albion. (Comments about the date and our nickname are not necessary in this thread).

One of my bands tried doing a cover of Big Chief, but it's impossible to whistle when laughing. Once a giggle was anticipated it all fell to pieces, so we abandoned it.
