[Albion] Solly March, local lad and Premier League star, is f***ing brilliant

Imho Solly has been a quality EPL player for 3 or 4 years, deserving of a starting place. A dream for the RB behind him in his latest role. I can think of a stack of games where he was magnificent.

I judge on total play, including work rate, tenacity in battles, making things happen for those around him, ball retention, driving us forward.

Whereas the tiny gang of Solly haters bitched about missed chances or crosses not headed in. Often posting on nsc just minutes into games, salivating that an incident met their trope.

The recent goals are just the icing on the Solly cake.

I'm going to reply to this here, because I think we should spend more time on a thread going on about how Solly's f***ing great.
Anyway, literally anybody would be more confident with more cover behind, that's a problem with the system not the player (which in turn is a problem with not having a decent specialist option at LB/LWB at the time).
Yes I agree, the other thread should be locked and archived. In fairness, it was always a small minority of posters who have had it in for Solly. Most have supported him, and even when he was blazing over from 6 yards, the Amex would still sing out the Solly March song.

Hmmm I'm not sure.
As good as he could be I never saw the magnificence.

Irrespective of the goals he's definitely recently moved up a level.

As mentioned a number of times - could a mod pls change the thread title. Players do see things and their friends / family - and it’s one well known moron with his sensationalist title… when really it’s become a piss take of the title this thread - I have seen several posters ask a MODERATOR to please do the same… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Perceptions.

I admired all the things I mentioned, plus he was vital to our defensive play and low GA stats.

He had many, many admirers on nsc throughout, challenging the mid-match haters who thought of him as Championship at best.

He’s definitely gone up another level in attack, perhaps the Stains goal was a huge weight off him. He touches on exactly that in that interview just released by the club.

For me the ridiculous criticism pushed the plaudits beyond what was happening on the pitch, maintaining the cycle.

It now feels like Solly has caught up with the praise partly because the rising tide.
But for me mainly because he's a lot freer with Mitoma Moises Mac Allister being quicker and esp due to his partnership with The Lana - he clearly gets Solly better than most.

There’s truth in that. People including me hate bullies, the more they targeted him here, the more I fought his corner.

Playing as an attacking wing-back, often going forward, or sometimes in the role as a winger, was what he did for three years before 8 September 2022. On 9 September onwards he spent the last three years playing as a defensive full-back passing the ball to Lewis Dunk for 90 minutes per game.
What’s your definition of a defensive wing back?
