Yesterday I was out in London and saw an altercation between two elderly tourists and a young woman at a venue - I don't want to say where because the person was so intent on getting publicity I want nothing to do with it if it gets further awareness. The long and short of it is though, she acted towards them in a way that many would consider liable to provoke someone, filmed it when they reacted unhappy about it, saying "I'm going to put you on social media" - despite security being involved by this point and telling her not to - and when security refused to support her but instead told her to leave she filmed them too, narrating her version of events over the top, and again threatening them saying it would go on social media etc.

I didn't see how the altercation started, but her actions escalated it, and the fact security saw it all and sided with the elderly tourists maybe says something. I don't really have a comment on it, just wondered how people would respond if they found themselves in a situation where they were the 'victim' and someone might be acting unreasonably and trying to get leverage by threatening to make them famous on social media in potentially life and career-damaging ways? It's not something I've seen before, but it made me wonder if it's something that's going to happen more, and maybe already happens more than I know....also how easy it is to claim something and present a one-sided view to potentially millions without an equal opportunity of reply for the person being filmed.

It happens a lot. And when I've seen it the vast majority of times I thought what an idiot the person who films it is and how there are two sides to each story.

One of the issues is the people who have this tendency not to look at things and understand that there may be more to this that meets the eye, and thus not render any opinion.

We still see it in NSC. Take something benign like a comment about what a player is up to, or a more benign thing such as a transfer rumour. I'm still bewildered how the default position for many is still not one of, at the very minimum, wanting more facts.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who can be "professionally offended" and go out of their way to ensure that they get themselves into positions which enable them to be offended and then escalate to ensure they can react and become the "victim", film it and post on Social Media.

Im sure a lot of it is intentional and done to create fake outrage, we see it all the time .Most reasonable minded people want to avoid unnecessary conflict, and will ,if tension arises due to misunderstandings, or differing opinions will seek to calm things down, yet it seems there is a growing number who go out of their way to create it, just to be able to garner clicks and likes, its despicable.
