i must admit, people seem to be shocked when i tell them i'm actually FROM brighton.......however we live in a great place to live, probably one of the best in the UK imo......it's got its problems, but where hasn't?

but that's a poorly written article, no balance whatsoever and i'd be willing to bet that the people he interviewed were just his mates

I was born in Brighton. My parents split up when i was 5 .... My mum moved back to SW London (Barons Court/Fulham) Dad in Brighton... And as time has gone on i have gradually started to dislike Brighton more and more for the tacky seaside resort it is and the people that reside there.... It all went downhill after they closed down Pirates deep :)

I haven’t really been out in the centre of Brighton for years and I’m sure Brighton is a nice enough city in its own right however is does not compare a to London at all... In any aspect except for weirdo eccentrics and hippie students

it doesn't need to compare to london though....obviously there's more stuff to do in london because it's far, far bigger

if you compare brighton to cities/towns of around the same size then brighton is miles better

True brighton would fit in as a nice London borough but as a whole... London is so much better however as you say the two shouldn't be compared. As a city in the south (as i dont go ooop north so cant compare) it is by far the best behind London but then again i think london is the best city in the world...

They've closed Pirates Deep!!!

Strange article written for the sake of writing. brighton_b0y seems just as deluded.

Just let people like the writer just get on with it - who wants his sort here anyway (although it sounds as if HE has a bit of a complex about US, to be honest. And I'll bet he'd love to move here but can't afford it).

But you're not from Brighton, are you?

And you don't seem to like much of how Brighton is.

Off you go...

Yeah I am. Born in Buckingham Road. Raised in Hove lived there until 1999. Not been back over the border since.

Having lived in both London and Brighton I sort of agree they're so different there is no point making comparisons. However... living in Brighton I'm walking distance to loads of great places to eat, drink, see bands, comedy etc. AND in I can take a bus and in 20 mins I can be hiking on the South Downs, one of the most beautiful places I've ever walked. And from March to October there is something interesting happening every weekend. I never want to live anywhere else.
