Its got to be the Football War of 1969 between Honduras and El Salvador, where the latter attacked the former after they had played a WC qualifier against each other (there may have been some other underlying issues too).

A bit like the local Derby matches now.

Hundred Years War. It's got Knights, Chivalric code (sometimes) ,the French taking a beating, long bows, mail, armour, monarchs on the battlefield, sieges, peasants fighting with pots and pans, outstanding tactical warfare. Yep, it's an absolute bobby dazzler.
