All that castigating the ref over the chelsea 2nd goal not being over the line, a picture on the BBC Sport website shows it actually WAS over the line

That picture proves no such thing.

What it does prove however is that it wasn't as clearly NOT over the line as some made out, and that as such the attacks on the referee are over the top.

You can't take a still image like that as proof of such things. All it proves is that the ball was off the ground.

I think this is the first time I have seen this from the otherside. My take is that it didn't hit the sole of the defenders boot until his feet were in line with the goal post.

That picture says to me it wasn't

Nowhere near - Still prob needed another 6 inches or so to be fully over the line. People often forget it's either a dead centre arial or side on view that must be considered and the WHOLE of the ball must be over the WHOLE of the line. Many times, even on telly, they say a ball was 'clearly' over the line when infact it 'clearly' wasn't!

Yeah I don't think it was over, but it's a damn sight closer than I thought at the time...

I gave my chelski flatmate an earful when he got back from wembley. "That bad decision changed the game." I eat my words.

if you look at assou-ekotto's boot and (john terry's??) shorts then it does look over the line, but that still doesnt mean that the WHOLE of the ball was over the line.

very difficult to tell, hence why technology is necessary...

To me it says the ball was directly above the line, but it didn't cross the line, so still not a goal... but the still on the BBC website shows it much, much closer than the TV pictures showed - thought it was a good six inches short from watching the game on TV!

Having saved the picture and zoomed in, I think that is a goal. The picture isn't even at the moment Assou-Ekotto kicks it away.
