It's entertaining listening to Steve Cotterill going on about his so-called team full of youth players, as if Pompey are battling against all the odds with a side comprised of 17 year olds and free transfers. Granted, they don't have many other players and only seem to field 4 subs these days, but their first choice XI should on paper have more than enough about it to at least challenge for the play offs at Championship level. Their only problem is that they can't change much if someone gets injured. But with that team they have no reason to be bottom and winless.

This was their team yesterday:

Ashdown- played plenty of Championship and some Premier League matches.
Mullins- been around at Palace and other clubs for years
Mokoena- full international, played in the Premier League for Pompey and other clubs
Sonko- years of experience at the top two levels with Reading and Stoke
Dickinson- played for Stoke for ages
Brown- ex Sheffield United, Spurs, hundreds of games
Wilson- played in the PL for Pompey and subject of £2million bids
Hughes- Pompey stalwart, hundreds of games
Utaka- (amazingly) full international, played in Serie A and the PL
Nugent- (amazingly) full international, years of C/ship and PL experience

I have always thought this Utaka was crap and watched with interest their game with Stevenage to finally see him show the potential he must have and thought he was one of the worst players on the pitch.

I am glad noone has ever seen him getting into a taxi at Gatwick

He must have done something right, given the massive wages that Pompey have wasted on him :lolol:

Utaka is probably the best player at Fratton Park at the moment and its far betetr than championship.

It is indeed marvellous to see Portsmouth at the foot of the table. The only disappointment for me so far has been their lack of injuries and red cards. I can't wait for that time when they will surely struggle to put a team out. They are , and ever have been , a hideous stain on football.

Palace on the other hand - yeah I enjoy them losing as much as the next man but my I detest the inbread 1000 times more.
