We should be getting 7000+ on a regular basis.

More tickets should be offered free/low price to kids.

Away fans are charged too much for their distant view. No wonder they spend most of the game being abusive to us.

We used to be a bad 3rd division team that could attract 20000 for the more attractive fixtures. We can't get 7000 now. And the atmosphere at the Goldstone was sometimes almost as quiet as Withdean.

We've lost so much support since the early days under Liam Brady.

Why should we be getting more than 7000? We are a small club and untill we get Falmer we will stay a small club.

I notice that even non-league Oxford managed over 11,000 - that's nearly double our Boxing Day attendance. :(

What a VERY strange post from somebody with apparently 1700 posts on NSC

I mean, has the entire debate about life, the universe, Falmer and everything gone completely over your head for the past n years? Haven't you learnt ANYTHING? :dunce:

The following clubs got bigger gates than us yesterday: Blackpool, Bradford, Lincoln, Gillingham, Swindon, Walsall, Oxford, Huddersfield.
I don't think 7000 is a bad target for a club whohave some exciting young players and used to pull in 20000 crowds in living memory. I don't think there is enough thought going in to trying to attract "new" fans.

Why is our support being eroded?

dont think we should be getting over 7k at all. We are not as big as what people make out. Fact is , 5k is about right for us.

And for what its worth I think if we had been at Falmer as long as we had Withdean and had exactly the same team in the same position as we have now, I think the crowd would still be no more than 8k

Thats just how it is

we have reasonable attendances if you take into account the league we're in
No they're not - they're shit. We're in 11th place in the league, yet we rank 13th place in the attendance table. In addition if you look at all the other clubs catchment areas, there aren't many that compare to ours. we have a massive catchment area and shit gates.

I disagree there. I think the fact it had a roof would be enough for there to be at least 11k.

The following clubs have better grounds and cheaper ticket prices than us: Blackpool, Bradford, Lincoln, Gillingham, Swindon, Walsall, Oxford, Huddersfield.

Why is our support being eroded?

- £24.50

- No roof

- No atmosphere

- Stewarding that treats allegedly valued customers as low level criminals

- Perceived difficulty in buying tickets

- Difficulty in persuading people the team now play bright sparky have-a-go football as opposed to the dour negative shit served up under Mark McGhee

- Barely audible PA

- Twenty minute queue for a polystyrene tray of chips at half-time

etc. etc.

Less and less people find it any kind of value for money as a form of leisure activity basically.

And all through not being able to compete on a level playing field such as Falmer

Like I say, haven't you learnt ANYTHING? :dunce:

If you want to get bigger crowds through the turnstiles make it attractive and accessible.

We have had some great games at Withdean under the Wilkins era, and I'm sure it will continue, so a little tweak of the ticket prices and some inventive advertisements and some creative targets for the adverts I'm sure we will not only get more punters but a better

I read somewhere that Crewe were looking at attracting Polish immigrants to their games. Man City are tapping into the gay market. All we seem to do it put a crappy advert in the Argus.

For all of Knight's alleged marketing expertise we do nothing inventive or creative when it comes to marketing the club. I once had a long chat in London with Nick Rowe about the marketing of the Albion and he had a few different and interesting ideas and markets he felt we should look into..then he was made redundant.

We are , never, ever, ever, ever, ever, going to improve our "gates" on a regular basis without a F*****g roof over the stands...!!!! How long is it now at the Withdean..?...7 years...?....and at least another 3 to 4 years , even if we get Falmer. If the club had pursued the planning applications for a roof when we first got to Withdean, how much would it have cost...?...a million..? With roughly 4,500 seats in the South Stand that would work out at about an extra £1.40p per game. So, for £1 F*****g forty pence, for seven years, I,ve been soaked, frozen half to death by the wind, and had virtually no atmosphere at the games...........and the "casual" supporter is supposed to be impressed enough to come again....???????
No doubt many people will now tell me that for some obscure reason , that we can,t have a roof.....I,m sorry, but our Board,s insistence, that ALL our eggs are put in one basket (Falmer), is in danger now of putting this club,s future in serious jeopardy. Without future fans, Falmer is going to be a rather pointless excercise.

nearly all the clubs you have mentioned were playing local derbies! the crowds will come if falmer happens!
just remember that we were playing reading a year ago on their patch and they were top of the league and there were thousands of empty seats and now every game is a sell out!

middlesbrough had 32k against charlton and i went there with the albion 20 yrs ago and there was less than 5k.

so the point is to have a good team playing in a decent sporting arena and jo public will part with their cash!
