I'm a big fan. Slade Alive was the first album I owned and Jim Lea has been a massive influence on my playing over the years. I saw them at Reading in 1980 when they replaced Ozzy Osbourne and blew the place away. I saw the film at The Regent Cinema in London not long before COVID when Dave Hill did a q&a afterwards. Holders voice at his prime was superb and together with Lea they were masters of the three minutes hit song. Looking forward to the BluRay release (and trying to find my BluRay player!)

Second album I bought was Slade Alive. Surprisingly there’s some great blues amongst the traditional Slade rocking.

Was my first album. Didn't sound great on my cheap Fidelity record player, but some rocking tunes.

Just been to see Slade in Flame for the second time. The first was as a 16 year old mega Slade fan in 1975 when it first came out and just View attachment 201232now as it’s been rereleased by the BFI for its 50th anniversary.
Great clips of 1970s Brighton and a real piece of pop music history.
Any other mirror top hatted old Slade fans here?

Keep an eye out for the old boy, one of his rare acting credits as a child star.

Au contraire. I remember completeing the Telegraph crossword with Noddy Holder over an early morning pint in The Angel at Islington many years ago. While I was doing a stint of relief work for Sam Smiths Southern. ​

Slayed was the first album I bought. Saw them at Donnington Monsters of Rock (along with AC/DC, Whitesnake, Blue Oyster Cult, Blackfoot and More) in 1981. Saw them again at the Brighton Centre when there were lighting issues and they played their set with the house lights on!!

I remember Ambrose Slade, those cheeky Wolverhampton skinheads, when they released ‘Shape of Things to Come’ back in 1970(?). Cue me doing my mimicking in a Black Country accent - ‘Noothink caan change the shaape ov things to coom!’. Alright then, best move on with that.

I bloody love Slade. Modern music production standards and voice coaches mean that you rarely if ever hear raw powerful voices like that of Noddy Holder. More fantastic songs than they ever seem to be given credit for and I regret that I have never seen them live.

Weller asked Jim Lea to play violin on Equanimity (from On Sunset) as he was looking for that style of violin sound on the track.

i was a great slade fan

as I have got older, you tend to appreciate their songs more…..How Does It Feel is a brilliant song

must watch that film again.
