OMG, Lady Beckham. Money nor titles buy class.

I dislike that waste of oxygen so much that for this reason I'm out. She will get that throne she sat on at her wedding out again.
Beckham has done quite well but not enough for a nighthood in my opinion.
There is something about him I dont like and maybe his wife made him do some odd things but when you are rich and have all the right paid people around to advise etc its easy to come across that good. Maybe my judgement is clouded by the useless bint he married but it always seemed to me that brand Beckham always came first.

Went for the good old Yankee $ over England career. Not for me alas.

In doing that (going to america) he helped football grow ridiculously over there, which only strengthens his case for this Knight hood. Agreed he may of gained finically, and shortened his European career but a couple years, but he turned football into a genuine major sport in America. He represents the UK well worldwide.

No to sport or football in general, he's a walking billboard for England. He represented or represents England extremely well in America, and in making football alot more popular over there, it pretty much automatically gains more Premier League fans and revenue. His success in America must gold mind to English football.

If I were up against it whatever the sporting medium, the type of guy I'd rather have in my team to show single minded focus, commitment, dedication, never say die attitude and universal achievement given Beckham or AP McCoy? Not difficult. Any gong should be issued likewise.

I would agree if his work had a large and positive effect on football as a whole. As far as I can tell, the rise in popularity and money generated doesn't benefit the game as it should.

I'm probably being unfair on him and he's never going to be a modern day philanthropist, but If he were to speak out and revolutionise how football works, then I would be in the queue to watch him be knighted. The same goes for our Olympics. What is the legacy? The only tangible legacy is a handful of athletes raking it in from sponsors.

Good news indeed, he has been out of the public eye for too long.. a well deserved and well needed bit of publicity for him.

Very droll, young Veg.

I personally don't agree with any titles bestowed but if we have to do it, I reckon he's top of the list.

Not a world class footballer but a seemingly nice guy, clean living and great ambassador, and like it or not, a decent role model comparatively.

And as for Rebecca Loos, he'd have been mad not to.

I personally think Knighthoods are given away to cheaply. That about sums up this prestige honour if bloody Beckham is awarded it.

Thoroughly deserved in my view he was very influential throughout the bid process and when we presented the Olympics to the world.

Great ambassador for his country.

I really do question how influential he was in the bid process for the Olympics. He added some publicity to our bid but so did many others and if we're realistic the real work was done entirely by the bid team. All he did was get flown out to Singapore to sign some autographs.

He is a good ambassador for the country but I don't believe he has done anything worthy of a knighthood just yet.

His greatest moment for England was the free kick to get us into the world cup. Had it been a free kick to win the world cup I'd be more inclined to support his knighthood but, truthfully he hasn't achieved anything that really supports him receiving a knighthood in my opinion.

Well aware he's won several league titles but so has Ryan Giggs etc etc. Fergie got a knighthood after 27 years at the very top of the game and deservedly so. Becks isn't on a par with Fergie in my opinion.

Beckham deserves it more then other people who have been knighted. He gives a lot of money to charity (including ALL his wages at PSG) and he played his part in getting us the biggest sporting event in the world. And he also took his own time to try to get us the World Cup. And that free kick he scored to get us in the world cup was very good.
