Someone posted here recently that it is fairly normal for someone returning from a long term injury to pick up niggling little injuries whilst building up their fitness levels.

He has had two different injuries since playing a part in a reserve match so that seems likely.

I think he will be back.

speaking as his cousin and a supporter who greatly appreciates any local home grown talent, I personally am looking forward to seeing his return to first team football. I think he has been missed and bearing in mind we need all the experience we can get at this level (Lush), I would have thought his input at this stage would be a necessity not a luxury!

good idea. cheers yorkie.
i hope to see him back soon. in left mid i think as long as his injury has not ruined his career and if he can regain old form, i think a midfield with rodger, carpenter, nicolas, currie, would be really good with plenty of experiance.

I'm really amazed how hard NSC is on players recovering from long-term injury.

If I was a betting woman - which I'm not - I'd put money on us never seeing Simon Rodger in a first-team shirt again.

And can't say I'm really that bothered.

I'll second that Lush. As a club, we're too soft for our own good. If Rodger really is injured again, it's time to say goodbye.

Some people seem to have a rose-tinted nostalgic view of players - perhaps remembering them in their glory days - Kitson when he first joined, the possibility of Kanchelskis, John Robinson....

I tell you - I'd far rather see Hammond in midfield than Simon Rodger. Let's look to the future, not pin our hopes on a player that has had his day.

Sorry to sound harsh. :(

Lush you are spot on the money, I personally would rather see Hammond develop than Rodger back in the side, would be good backup though.

while we are paying his wages he is worth a crack at the 1st team again. we are not pinning our hopes on him just saying if he can recreate previous form he would be great addition. so personally i would like him back into the team if he is still good enough. otherwise what would be the point of paying his wages, surely we should just sack him if that is the case. :nono: harsh, we could at least give him the chance when he recovers.
