Just having a chat with a mate who's of to see the mat Hyde Park this evening.

He says they are great but I am of the opinion that they make music that should only be listened to I a room stuff with cotton wool where nothing can harm you and is tedious and boring.

What does NSC think about them?

Look at em!

Horsham Town
a few classic songs intheir repetoire, wouldn't go and see them though, think I'd fall asleep there.

Used to stick the greatest hits on at the end of a large night out to calm down with a big fat spliff. Sounded alright in that situation

I didn't mind Paul Simon as a solo artist. The stuff he did with (and for) Ladymith Black Mambazo was good.

Must be that wanker, Art Garfunkels, fault.

Pukka pies, no doubt about it, but the tunes have all been heard once too often. On my first ever Stateside expedition in 1989 we flew into Newark, NJ and as I looked out of the window of the Greyhound bus driving away from the airport I realised that we were on the New Jersey Turnpike, a mindblowing moment for a teenage S&G fan from little ole Blighty. Needless to say I started counting the cars post haste.

Haven't listened to any of their stuff for ages, but looking at the set listing above, I might just have to dig some out.

Legend has it that the song Homeward boundwas written by Paul Simon whilst at Crewe railway station, if you've ever been to Crewe you'll probably sympathise!

I'm sittin' in the railway station
Got a ticket for my destination
On a tour of one night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and a one man band

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Everyday's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me
The movies and the factories
And every stranger's face I see
Reminds me that I long to be

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

Tonight I'll sing my songs again
I'll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity
Like emptyness in harmony
I need someone to comfort me

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me
Silently for me
Silently for me
