You were lucky Al.
Personally, I quite miss a bit of JOUSTING with the anti-Falmer mob. Its all died down now for obvious reasons, but there's nothing I liked more than a protracted Falmer BINFEST (in real life, on here or on those mongoloid 'comments' sections on ther Argus website).

*sigh*

Where's Septicman these days, I wonder.

Indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed the sparring on the old Argus forum and the latter versions. This psycho sounds a lot like Moon from the Argus forum. I was always convinced 'it' was male. Hmmm...

I used to be fairly prominent fighting the Falmer cause on the old Argass forum. There were only a few posters and many, at the start, were anti but it was the likes of Septic, rather thanour reasoned arguments, which made the undecided come over to our side.

I'm here old boy, never fear, and doing well, despite the recession. The same can't be said for the Albion - languishing at the foot of League 1 (or the 3rd Division in old money), less than a 6,000 crowd for a vital relegation game yesterday, and still in debt to the tune of £13m or so. BTW, how will the huge debts be covered when Falmer is built - written off, or covered by taxpayers money? There certainly isn't, and never has been a fan base to cover the club's expenses.

I look back on the Falmer issue as being very similar to the foxhunting debate. In the same way that had little to do with foxes, so the stadium debate had little to do with football and local jobs, and even less to do with education. Despite being absolutely slaughtered in the only public enquiry held to consider it, the Albion received unashamed political backing for the ground instead. One rule for you, one rule for the rest of us. Nonetheless, much of the pro stuff spouted on this site remains touchingly naive.

Oh, and by the way - I never lost the debate on Falmer. The only way I could have lost it would have been by taking part in it in an official capacity and being in a position to influence it - which I never was.

Kisses to all.....

In which case you will never win the debate, and your views mean absolutely nothing.

Have a nice day.

I thought I could smell cabbage. How the devil are you ?
Not sure how you arrive at the conclusion that "taxpayers" will end up paying for it. Hows that work ? The business plan is in place, and has been scrutinised by PwC and approved (otherwise construction would not have commenced). As for the club being "absolutely slaughtered" at the public enquiry - having attended several sessions, it was apparent that the clubs arguments were the ones backed up with evidence and fact. The anti's largely consisted of mud-slinging, half-truths and baseless scaremongering.

I recommend you take a walk along there some time and see the work they've done so far. Warms the old cockles, it does.

:)

With respect, isn't it a waste of time to argue with a football-hating snob?

Let her delude herself that she is a Guardian-reading radical while in reality she behaves like a patronising memsahib in an outpost of the Empire.

Afternoon, Mr C.

I'm fairly certain that sales of the Mail, Express and Torygraph easily exceed that of the Guardian in either Falmer or other anti nests like Peacehaven.

Ho ho, it's all very easy to slag us off, however the stadium is being built and once finished WILL give a massive boost not only to the club but also to the local community!! And by the way, Norman Baker phoned me up to say you still owe him a fiver!!

Fox hunting got banned in 2004 by an act of parliment, also deer-hunting and hare-coursing with dogs. So you obviuosly see that due process took place over an issue and after much open debate a consensus was agreed and carried forward.

However I must admit I still get a bit irked by the refusual to build a bear baiting pit in the new stadium :p

Nice to see the Progressive Democrat spirit lives on after the party has died a death ("I'm right, and the public support me, even when its quite clear they don't. And the issue I'm debating is the colour of the sky, which is green. Absolutely and utterly green.")
