We need to get behind the team and FFS we need to get real - this is the FOURTH game. Anyone who gives up on the team yet is not a real fan. Yes, we have got lessons to learn, and yes, we are learning them the hard way but we are bound to get a few knock backs. We need to examine those mistakes and build on whatever foundation we have got. Remember our time in Division 1 when we lost 12 games in a row? We have just got to keep the faith and get behind the team.

I know where you are coming from but the team does not lose on purpose. We are still consolidating as a side and we need to take in further players before we can be successful. We need cash and of course we don't have any.

it was always gonna be hard today wigan are buzzing after their 3.1 victory at west ham. the only result which really disapointed me up to now was the 0.2 defeat at home to plymouth. now it is looking like they are going to be the suprise package of the division. so maybe it was not such a bad result after all.
we knew before the season started we would be in a relegation battle. so lets accept the fact and get behind the team.
it will be a long hard struggle for the players. the least they need is our support. dont lose the faith.

Agreed Crabtree. Perhaps some fans out there wish that Virgs had never scored that 120 minute goal against Swindon.

thats bollocks. we all want to be in div 1. this is an extremely strong league and we need to be far more proactive if we are to stay up! maybe some of us are just realists??

Perhaps the real realists are those who expected a tough start to the season and called for McGhee not to be overburdened with expectations this early on? I expected us to be in the bottom 3 until we got the first-teamers back. A win next week and we will be doing better than that.

i always expected a tough start- i also didnt realise quite how strong these teams are. due to the financial crisis over the last few years teams like rotherham and gillingham have been able to sign really top players. i just wonder who we'd finish above?!

All that has happened is that a couple of teams we talked about, Plymouth and the Gills, have started well. Again, not something to get worked up about, some teams always surprise - par for the course. The converse of that is some of the bigger teams have had pisspoor starts, like Wolves.

The others we talked about - QPR, Crewe, Roth, Preston - are all still cuddling us near the bottom, and Derby have picked up after a poor start, which we could yet do.

well said. i saw watford on the tv last week and they looked ok. i thought they would be one of the weeker teams.but i did predict crewe to finish bottom and thought that qpr and preston would struggle. plymouth are doing better than expected but i never thought they would get relegated. so if they can beat the other teams that are going to struggle then that cannot be a bad thing. just a shame they beat us aswell.

So we're struggling? Did anyone expect any different? We've lost 3-0 today to one of the favourites to win this league and who are light years ahead of us in terms of facilities and financial stability. This is the same team that turned West ham over at home last week remember! Against Reading were unfortunate no to maybe snatch a point. Against Plymouth we were dire, but their performances against other teams suggest they could be a surprise package. Against Coventry we put in a good honest performance for 80% of the game and got a well deserved point. Despite all the wrist slashers coming on the radio spouting that "we're doomed already", I still believe we will survive. Mark McGee is shrewd. It won't be pretty, but once the cold and wet weather sets in and the pitch starts to cut up, how will the wanabe "sleeping giants" fancy a trip to Withdean? that could be our get outa jail card this season?

Then again, I could be clutching at straws?

In the longer term (up to the end of the season), the team is likely to look different to the one that is playing at the moment, with the addition of loan signings. McGhee admits that he is still trying to find his best formation and once he has things should look brighter.

In the shorter term, as mentioned above, we did quite well against Reading, bloody awful against Plymouth, played well against Coventry and suffered at the hands of Wigan – as will the majority of teams this season! Reading and Wigan were always going to be tough games. Plymouth are doing very well, but I doubt they will sustain and I think they will level out and finish nearer mid table by the end of the season. I expected Gillingham to struggle but are doing well, however, when matches catch up with Roberts and they get a few injuries I think they will begin to plummet down the league.

This was always going to be a learning curve for the younger players like Virgo and Harding, and with the addition of new signings to integrate and with losing our top scorer (how many games would we have failed to win last season if he missed them?!), I think it can be said we have coped about as well as could have been expected.

We are not going to storm this league but I can see better times ahead.

Don't some people give in too easily?

Peserverance is the name of the game. Don't give up.

If Virgo had given up we would never had got to Cardiff.

We're not even in extra time yet let alone injury time.

Start moaning next March/April if we're in the same position.

For christ`s sake we are 4 matches into the season and we have lost 3 of them,so what,we have 42 games to go and as I said last week,we will get better as season goes on.Every time we lose people say we are doomed,I suppose if we win our next 2 games those same people will say we are going up!!!!.
Yes,it would be nice to go out and spend 5 million on a couple of players but that ain`t going to happen and Mark Mcghee will bring in a loan or 2 when he has to and we will be okay,we are a better side than 2 years ago and we have a manager who knows what it`s all about.
