Thought it was another very solid performance, got some good blocks in and strong in the air. Better than JPVH who I thought looked shaky for most of it and almost got caught in possession in bad areas a few times.

Tough assignment for both centre backs, up against a world class striker. They both did ok

Wonder how long he'll be out.

Clearly not as bad as the tier 3 hamstring injury last time as he was able to limp around but would be surprised if we see him for 3-4 weeks.

Bad luck, I like him and he's been bloody good these months. I guess Hurz won't be sleepless now, easier to fit in Captain Dunk again.

Pretty sure Dunk would have spent most of the rest of this season on the bench. Very little suggesting that Fabian would bench players that perform well.
We should be happy that Dunk is back. Bringing in Cashin to the starting lineup at this point of the season would be a massive risk.

Handy that Dunk and Webster are tag-teaming being injured, but, stating the obvious, we really are very thin at the back.

I get the impression that the club don't fancy Cashin much, and he was brought in as a cheap-ish contingency, given the injuries we were experiencing.

Not sure about that? Since joining, there hasn’t really been an occasion he could’ve played ahead of first choice Van Hecke, the club captain Dunk or an in-form Webster. With Webster seemingly being injured now, and Dunk returning alongside Van Hecke, if either was suspended or injured he’d get minutes.

Didn’t look a bad one as he walked away ok. 2/3 weeks maybe?
Thought he was our best player before he was replaced.
Rutter’s on the other hand looked a bad one.
The amateur doctor in me is optimistic about that one... ankle sprain without need to be carried off... hurts like hell but often no massive damage.. 2-3 weeks.

Agreed. I think the club might have longer term plans for him but he is surely 5th or 6th choice CB if we had a fully fit squad.

That said, Dunk needs to find the sort of form Webster has been enjoying recently before his injury if our European qualification push is to continue unabated.

Yes, on the other hand, maybe I’m wrong and they just don’t fancy him?

Why do fans decide a player is unfancied when they have a slightly better one ahead of them in the pecking order? Adingra gets a lot of this. For me, he is easily an EPL top 10 left winger but Mitoma is a ‘first on the team sheet’ type of player. Could it be the same for Cashin? 🧐🤣

Webster and Van Hecke have a combined EPL appearances of 198 and have formed a great partnership during and 8 game unbeaten streak (over 90mins). Cashin has 0 EPL appearances.

You very rarely see a CB being subbed because tactically it rarely works so he has no hope in getting game time on that front. He needs to wait his turn.

The only logic here is that FH prefers to stick to his successful partnership, not that Cashin is unfancied. He’d have to be the next Cannavaro to replace Van Hecke or Webster at the moment.

The ambition was probably always that Cashin would play as little as possible this season, serving as an injury crisis backup while we take a look to see if he's ready or if he needs a year in Bundesliga or Ligue 1 or something. He's a Championship talented that would have costed £5m less if he was right-footed.

Don't think we can read too much into him not playing yet. Sure, if he had been SUPER impressive in training we might have seen him a few minutes here and there... but in pretty much every game its not a sub we've felt we could afford playing around with.
