Absolutely.Gareth Glover said:I can see a glorious defeat in 2006 against Holland in the quarter finals when we have a player unfairly sent off and we manage to hold the 1-0 lead until the 88th minute when an unfair penalty is awarded against us.
Needless to say in extra time we " heroically " defend this lead with 10 men but needless to say lose on penalties.
Ah well theres always the 2008 Euro Sven.

Never mind the quality. FEEL the hard-luck stories.
As most of us accept, Dick Knight is doing a damned fine job with incredibly limited resources, so anyone calling for him to go will quite rightly earn scorn, derision, ridicule and humiliation. Completely different argument, and not really relevent to this debate.Spiros said:Sorry Easy, I can't agree. Eriksson has made some mistakes during his time as England manager but until there is a real alternative, what would be achieved by sacking him? Unless Arsene Wenger stands up and says the England job is the one he really wants you are doing no more than those who come on this board and put up threads saying 'Dick Knight Out' without ever offering any serious alternative.Euro champions and 3rd to strong host nation)

The England job is both prestigeous and well paid, so I don't think the FA would have problems attracting some credible, quality applications for it. Why should we stick with an under-achieving coach just because the answer for his replacement isn't staring us in the face right now ? I say again, I have no problem with us appointing a foreign coach with the right credentials. Its the FA's job to put some feelers out and see who's up for it.
Failure should have a price, but instead, everyone at the FA is falling over themselves to proclaim how wonderful Sven is.
Its bollocks. He's crap.
PUNCHING WOMEN ? What HAVE you been up to Crabbers ?CrabtreeBHA said:so saying that then Easy we should sack our manager everytime we fail in a tournament....meaning we'd have a different manager every two years and no stability at all!
You've made your point and brought a good discussion for todays "working" day and shown us your opinion which is what NSC is all about, and for that I thankyou, these debates (much like my Punching Woman thread on Friday) help us get through as our shitty jobs, so until I/we get better jobs keep them coming!
Thankyou Easy for the debate, may it continue until the next one![]()

The alternatives would become apparent if we were seeking a change. Scolari certainly seems to be able to galvanise a team and get the best out of them - he kicked a few Portugese arses after that Greek defeat and put them back on track bloody sharpish didn't he. Think Sven would have made wholesale changes to the team after an opening game defeat, and subbed the captain if he was playing shit ? Naah, me neither. THATS managing - not sticking with the tried and trusted and just hoping to christ it all works out.Beach Hut said:Only if there is a viable alternative which doesn't seem likely at present.
