Does anyone agree with me that old "two jags" should get his fat arse down here to look at the Falmer site himself.Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know he's never actually visited the site.Yes, I know that he comes to Brighton every 2 or 3 years with the Labour conference but has he ever been to the site?
With all the effort everybody has put in he will obviously realise by now just how big a decision he has to make.Not only for the football club but also the other issues connected with it, eg jobs and Labour seats at the next election to name but two.
Obviously he needs the inspector to oversee all the legal proceedings on his behalf but is it right that he comes to a decision based on that report and a few photographs when such a massive decision is at stake?
I'm not saying that he should make a big well advertised arrival, that would be stupid.The last thing he'd want is to walk into 1000 Albion fans chanting "we want Falmer" at him. I know that he's a busy man but he could easily jump into a helicopter and be here in 20 minutes, take 10 minutes to look at the area and then be back in London in time for an early lunch. All unannounced. I was at the Falmer demo last Saturday and whilst standing at the area that the stadium is going to be built on the main thing you notice is just how noisy the traffic on the A27 really is. The argument of the Falmer residents that the peace and tranquility of their village would be ruined by the noise if the stadium is built would be blown right out of the water, it's already there, EVERY DAY!! But he wouldnt know this unless he heard it for himself.So I say he should come ASAP.
This is a huge decision involving a very special application.One that he cannot afford to get wrong, it could have some very serious implications politically, especially locally, and he knows it!!
