I suppose it depends on what you expect the police to do about it. They'll record it. But realistically, the chances of successfully identifying and prosecuting somebody sound pretty slim, unless you know who did it.

You'll get a crime number, which I guess you might want for insurance purposes if you're intending to claim. Personally- and yes, I'm obviously biased- I don't think it's fair to label the police "dismissive" simply for telling you they're unlikely to be able to identify the person responsible. If there's anybody to be angry towards, it's the tool who caved your back wheel in.

Thinking about how I felt when I was burgled (x4) and when I was mugged (x3) , I know the police are too busy to deal with minor issues but still I respect them, keep up the good work.

Not really on topic, but I didn't think the police escort travellers to sites these days...and stop the traffic to allow them all to pile in holding the traffic up and some of them swearing at drivers patiently waiting to get past.

This happened tonight at benfield valley by the bypass roundabout. It wasn't just one or two, there were at least 20 cars vans and huge caravans.

wasnt you in your panda car was it Edna? Not sure why the police in the car didn't do anything when one of the scrotes appeared to drive straight at the police car as he couldn't get his van and caravan around to get in the " entrance" and they had to speedily get out the way. If I would drive at a police car, I would expect the full force of the law...one law for one? Btw I assume someone must have unlocked the gates to let them in too!

Definitely. he might have boasted about it to someone with a loose tongue.

Some delightful scumbag made a half arsed attempt to steal my bike last night from Sackville Rd last night and in their frustration reverberated to just kicking the Crap out of the back wheel.
No they didn't.

What you've had there is a premonition. I suggest you get your bike insured, just in case something like that happens in the future.

Yes, absolutely. Please report it -it may seem initially that they will not do much, but the intelligence unit will log the area where these crimes take place and a pattern may develop. This makes it easier for them to watch and see who is responsible; the chances are that it is only one person or very few. An arrest a few weeks down the line may seem unconnected, but it is your reporting that helped to bring that arrest about.

I have a very old style 'universal' insurance that (I think) covers me for most things. The excess with regards bikes is £50, the cost of the repair is £40. £40 might not sound like much to some of you high rollers but - once you add on the additional costs of getting the bike to the repairers (the excellent Aaron's Bikes) and having to pay for a bus for a couple of days - it's more than I earn for a day's work. Plus it just makes me feel sad.

Can't believe nobodies taken the chance to post this yet...

Ps - sorry to hear about your bike - some right scum out there. My mrs caught some ****er trying to nick our child's water play (plastic crap worth about £30 brand new) the other day. I chased down the road & caught him at traffic lights - he was very foreign but suggested he thought it was 'free'. I gave him a few choice words which I hope he managed to translate - nicking from kids is the lowest of all thieves IMO...

Thank you for posting this video - made my day!

I'm inclined to agree with the earlier replies.

Just try to console yourself with the thought that this tragic inadequate piece of filth probably has a cock the size of a budgies tongue, and is right now shaking like a shitting dog as he comes down from his latest hit of smack, curled up in the corner of a squalid decrepid flat, covered from head to foot in his own faeces.

Yes report it,you might be surprised that the local police actually give a shit

My car was broken into two weeks ago in my driveway,i phoned simply to get a crime number for insurance purposes.I was informed on the phone (and didnt expect anything else) that the crime would be logged for statistics but would not be followed up on and that was the end of the matter.

Within a few days i had not one but two visits at my house from the community support officers who were adamant they were going to catch the twit on the mini crime wave in my area.....i have no idea if they have caught said tosser but i cant knock the commitment they portrayed to me

this count might have failed with your bike but he is prob getting away with it elsewhere

ps if you are in west worthing it appears there have been quite a few break ins into cars in the last few weeks......dont be a dumb prick like me and leave the sat nav still on the windscreen

Hopefully soon to be reacquainted with the lovely chap who ODed on the proceeds of the theft of my grandfather's fishing tackle.
