When I last walked my Dog there , there were loads of them and there was rubbish and crap strewn all over the place and for 100 metres along the pathway.

The United Kingdom of Mile Oak
Said chairman of Mile Oak Wanderers football club here...

the eviction order was served by the courts yesterday and they've all but gone today...I received a text at 6:30 this morning.

Now we just have to see what mess they've left behind and how much of a state our pitches are in!

Black bags at the ready!

Apparently the farmer phoned police to tell them what he was going to do and when ob arrived at the scene they advised the farmer that the travellers have their rights (even tho they had broken lock to gate and replaced it with their own lock) !

Travellers should not have rights on the use of land owned by somebody else. Farmers are working so hard to survive, its going to cost this one 500 pounds to fix his gate and lock.

I wonder if travellers will be featuring in the Olympic games opening ceremony celebrating the British countryside.

I applaud this farmer and hope his approach inspires others - without putting anyone in danger of course.

I always liked the idea, if I was a farmer and travellers "invaded" my land, of arriving at the field with my tractor and muck-spreader and telling them they had 10 minutes to leave. "It is muck-spreading day here and unless you want to be covered in cow shit I suggest you pack up and go"!

I imagine that might just have the desired effect.

V glad they have gone, do hope damage is minimal and that you wont have to find funds to put right - when you are trying to raise funds for the kids football kits. Wonder if remf would consider supporting - just a thought.

They probably wouldn't smell the difference.

I imagine that might just have the desired effect.
If the desired effect is being stabbed while your house gets looted, then watching the culprits drive off scot free.

What did he do exactly?

And also, if anyone has any photos of the crap the travellers left behind I'd be interested. They always bleat on about how they're made to look worse than they are...

That's unfortunately not possible.

.

I don't get this. Isn't it trespassing? Seems there were a load more travellers waiting to get on the site too.

They (the members of the travelling community that take the piss) really don't help the rest of em. I wonder what the law abiding travellers think of them.

Strange, isn't it, that they have generators to power things but won't invest in proper toilet facilities.
And why do they always seem to be above the law? If any of us did the things that they do, we'd end up in the nick.

A few years ago some travellers got on to Happy Valley Woodingdean. A local resident drove and blocked the gate with his car which caused the rest of the Traveller convoy to queue in Falmer Road. OB told him to move his car as he was causing the obstruction. Obviously they didn't fancy telling the convoy to move on.

Police are powerless when it comes to Travellers. In fact they're pretty powerless full stop.

I wish they would check a few tax discs, insurances and MOTs while there. Be nice to see vehicles impounded and a few travellers walking.

Why would they pay to use this 'official' travellers site which every council is quick to suggest, when they will just find a bit of grass and move in their instead!
By the time a court order is finally issued to tell them to move, a weeks worth of hit has built up and they leave

The majority of travellers are scumbags who think they are above the law! And if us law abiding, tax paying citizens did half the stuff they get away with! We would be throw in the nick
