It isn't and that isn't what I was referring to. I cannot make public statements about what I have read and seen or else I am breaking the law.
But what I will say is that homophobic comments like that article can be treated as hate crime.

It was what you were referring to, and I don't think it takes knowledge only possible to have having signed the OSA to realise that homophobia can be a hate crime. Common sense should do the job.

Doesn't there need to be a victim for something something to be considered a hate crime ?

Isn't it a catch all thing that affects the sentance rather than it being a crime in itself, in that there has to be a criminal offence committed already for it to be further considered a "hate crime".

True but as MYOB has said there is incitement to hatred which can come into it.
Sentences for hate crime do carry a higher levy ie ABH would be less than racially aggravated or homophobic ABH.

So why mention it in the first place if you can't enlarge on what you have seen or read. Otherwise whatever you were talking about appears merely unsubstantiated heresay.

Which particular section of the OSA are you in danger of breaking? Is it sections 4 and 5 which would be a bit dull and merely civil servant admin type stuff, or more excitingly sections 1 to 3 and 6 which might make you a member of MI5 or MI6 and an international spy?

Just the boring civil servant stuff.

and if the webhosts refuse to act?

They won't if they're based in the UK, simple as. As there'd be a court order.

If they're not, its quite likely any reputable one will act, others won't.

However, due to their size, Footy Mad are their own hosts - so it'd be their upstream provider(s) that would be brought in.

As it goes, its a large, reputable enough firm behind it. I suspect they'll just remove it.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
All in all, it was pretty shite. Nothing original and nothing even remotely funny. I have been more upset by stubbing my toe or a barmaid not quite filling up the pint glass. Shite 'humour' from some peeps that are bitter about dropping three points from a team that they should be smashing.

Didn't think we had an "incitement to hatred" act in this country. There is a Northern Irish Version, but ours specifically alludes to race and religion I think - not homophobia currently.

I thought it was added to your setup very recently? Past months, basically. All I can find is that Jack Straw either announced or introduced the bill in October 2007.

I believe the NI one was required with the Belfast Agreement to bring it in to line with the Republic's 1989 acts.

It's shocking and offensive. I've always thought Leeds had more than their fair share of neanderthal pricks, and this just about proves it. As someone else has said, FootyMad is based in Leeds so no doubt they have approved this. Has anyone told the club?

Doubt if it is "approved", I would have thought editorial control would be down to who ever has the "franchise".

.. bet it will be gone by tomorrow.

Some sad bastards on here, who cares if he thinks your poofs

I mean seriously ffs.

No one gives cares what people think of us, that's hardly the point is it.

Then again I wouldn't expect an outdated stereotype like yourself to understand.
