What I don't understand is how that bloke is still alive. The amount of crap he's pumped into his veins he makes Keith Richard look like a nun.

I would suggest he's small time in comparison to Keef who has had so many near death experiences from drug abuse. It's unbelievable that he is still alive and can just about string a sentence together.

You'd have to ask Mr Cook. For the thrill, I'd imagine.

I'm not sure he's fit to be involved in and pumping money into a third tier football club in that case :jester:

Whoa nelly! Let's not get too sanctimonious. Funny how everyone rushes to praise the pissheads on here and think it's great to start threads about how drunk they are, as someone a couple of days back, but rush to condemn other people's lifestyle choices (and yes I know smack is a bit different to booze but it's all altered states of consciousness).

I'm sure a fair few people on here, if they had enough cash to burn and no major constraints on their time, would be spendng a 'reasonable' amount of my time off their heads either through drugs, drink or both.

Good post.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
A prime example of intelligence and common sense not having much of a link. The guy desperately and obviously needs help to beat his addictions and the courts are doing him no favours by letting him off with warnings and so on.

Fame and fortune = Coming across drugs. Some people can't handle that and have addictive personalities. Doherty is clearly one of them. However, there is only so much one can do and it is up to the person to 'cure' themselves. He has picked the wrong profession IF he wants to get clean.

If it was any of us we'd be locked up by now!

Could he be giving info to the police about the dealers?

Personally, if I had cash to burn and plenty of time, no, I wouldn't spend any more time "off my head" than I do now. With no restraints on money or time, I can think of a hundred more productive ways to spend my life.

Doherty in drugs offence arrest

Pete Doherty was held in Tower Hamlets
Rock star Pete Doherty has been arrested for suspected drug possession after performing at the V festival.
The 28-year-old singer was arrested in the Tower Hamlets area of east London in the early hours of Monday.

He is being held at an east London police station after the car he was travelling in was stopped by police.

Doherty took to the stage with his band Babyshambles on Sunday night at the festival at Weston Park on the border of Staffordshire and Shropshire.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs.

Stomach implant

Less than two weeks ago, a judge told Doherty he must kick his drug habit or go to jail.

The singer admitted driving illegally while in possession of crack, heroin, ketamine and cannabis in High Street Kensington, west London.

District Judge Davinder Lachlar asked for reports on Doherty's rehabilitation before making a decision during a hearing at West London Magistrates' Court.

Doherty has undergone a stomach implant to help him kick drugs.

A total of 76 people were arrested at the event at Weston Park over the weekend - more than half for drugs offences.

Oh for heaven's sake lock him up. I would be if I reoffended as much as he has done.

It's good to know that rock and roll still lives on.

In fairness what harm is Mr Docherty actually doing anybody else ? He pays for his own rehab. Granted his music annoys many but if he comes on the radio you can always change the station. In the bigger picture he's not worse than somebody who goes out and quite legally drinks themselves into a stupor. And frankly he's never killed or injured anybody while driving under the influence either.

Leaves syringes in airplane toilets? Regularly assaults people? Squirts syringes at cameramen? Breaking and entering?

How the f*** is this bloke still out/still not 6 feet under?

I read somewhere recently that genuine rock and roll stars have an average life span of mid to late 30's so Doherty is well on course to living up to the stats

Yes and how much of that is true and how much is made up by the Sun ? Mind you I agree it's ridiculous that this bloke seems to get away with repeatedly defying the law whatever his demons.

To be honest, most of these stories are on the Reuters site, and are quoted on the BBC (OK, not that reliable), plus others. He attracts crap because of the way he is, but even having seen footage of the bloke he seems to enjoy being a dickhead and causing controversy. Babyshambles turned up at V over the weekend, and despite playing a decent set had to have their gig edited because he made it unlistenable.

Still, the guy is in court today and he should end up picking up the soap for "Dave/Shirley" on the remand wing, unless the geriatric prat on the bench gives him a double-figures "second chance".

Er Edit that for our f***ing useless court system. No jurisdiction? Bring on emigration, I can't wait to get out of this f***ing excuse for a country.

Pete Doherty has walked free from court this morning (August 21).

The Babyshambles man was at West London Magistrate's Court to faces charges of breaching his bail, however the singer did not even appear in front of the judges after it was decided that the "Court had no jurisdiction" in the matter.

Doherty left court immediately after hearing the news.
