Should Owen not make it i'd go for Rooney & Heskey, they will batter the hell out of the Turkish defence with their physical presence!

Shearer would be nice but i cant see him coming out of retirement, not even just for this one off occassion if Owen doesn't make it.

Not a bad suggestion Dwayne, aprt from hes retired as a player has no mangaement experiance and has a two year contract still to run at newcastle

Never mind Owen, there's a good case for leaving Rooney on the bench after he received yet another booking and was lucky not to be sent off for foul and abusive language vs. Spurs.

This is a one-off match, and Teddy Sheringham should start. He's got the experience to handle the Turkish players and crowd, he's bang in form and he'd help calm Rooney down if the boy does get a start.

So Rooney and Sheringham for me, but if Rooney can't handle it I'd be happy with Vassell. Of course Shearer would be perfect but that ain't gonna happen.

I'd play Heskey and Vassell up there. Rooney hasn't the temperament or experience to be playing in that game.

Big Ron made the point on the Premiersip on sat that Rooney has the ability to scare the Turks. Re his performance on Saturday apparently the Spurs fans were calling him Monkey Boy or something similiar, so that may be what wound him up.

I'd def. have Vassell as sub. He has a habit of coming on and making a difference.
