Shaun Wilkinson has been accused of spitting at Weymouth fans
MIDFIELDER Shaun Wilkinson could face disciplinary action over allegations he spat at Weymouth fans following Saturday's defeat at Redbridge.
Terras bosses confirmed an investigation is taking place over claims the 23-year-old reacted to criticism from supporters after the FA Trophy Second Round defeat.
Fans complained they were spat at and sworn at by Wilkinson while the former Brighton and Hove Albion star claims he had beer thrown at him.
Terras head coach Steve Johnson today said the club was holding a full investigation into the incident before deciding what action to take.
He told Echosport: "The incident happened as the players were coming off at the end of the game and there seems to be two versions of events which we need to get to the bottom of.
"Shaun came on as substitute and a small
section of the fans gave him plenty of continual stick during that time.
"The player alleges that something
was said at the final whistle and a pint
of beer was thrown over him. That
resulted in him reacting by spitting in the direction of those who were giving him the stick.
"I spoke to a few fans afterwards who
have a different view of it, and said the beer was thrown because of the spitting.
"Nobody wants to see spitting and I can't condone that in any way shape or form.
"But it is important the club gets all the facts before we jump to conclusions and that is why an investigation is now taking place."
Wilkinson is currently the subject of a transfer bid from Conference South rivals Bognor Regis Town.
