Surprised they don't eat the rest of the shark. Shark meat has the texture of a pork chop without the cholesterol, a very good meal if cooked well.

It is actually delicious but very expensive. A lot of companies in Hong Kong though now forbid it to be ordered at business lunches.

As far as i am aware, Shark fin soup is almost tasteless untill either chicken or vegetable stock is added. The fin is very gelatanous and gives the dish a texture.

I'm no tree-hugger but it constantly amazes me the depths that we as humans stoop to do destroy the planet - all money driven, of course. I thought the whole week of the big fist fight was worth while - don't know if it will change much, if anything, but if you don't try ...

Used to enjoy a bit of sea fishing in my younger days, spent many a cold night on the Shoreham harbour arm. Used to eat everything I caught and it was never a problem to me. Then one day I caught a Dogfish, which is of course is a species of Shark. Took it home and gutted it in the normal way and all these perfectly formed baby sharks fell out (I did not realise at the time they gave birth to live young). Made me feel completely sick, I felt rotten and I've never been fishing since.

I will still eat fish but the old Huss and chips is defo off the menu for me.
