Back in the day this was THE place to be so I am told by my dad.

I see the building has been unoccupied for awhile now, I believe it was on sale for £2m. Anyone know whats happening to it?

Something happening now I believe. No idea what, but there are now wooden hoardings outside with pedestrians diverted.

I heard from a friend (so not sure how true this is) is that a new big club is opening up, that will be open 24/7, apparently it will never shut? Sounds a bit like BS, but they have started working on that building recently...so who knows ???

The facade is still there but everything behind it seems to have been demolished, why are they keeping the facade ???

No need to worry, they all fall down or catch fire conveniently.

My Dad was general manager of the Sergeant Yorkes for most of the 70s and 80s. He knew Mullery and most of the Brighton players back in the day. He had some great stories about those days. I will be very sad to see it knocked down.

They've just made Queens Road one way (southbound) past the casino site. It'll be like that for a year, while the work goes on.

The taxi drivers who double park outside the taxi office will presumably carry on regardless, only facing the other direction.

Would sometimes stop in there after a night out for free coffee and sandwiches - well I say free but it sometimes cost a tenner if I lost!

I recall going in there with a group of friend's post-club(something classy like the Paradox) back in 98 or 99. The management pulled us aside and told us to dress up next time as we were too scruffy. One reason amongst many not to go to a casino. I used to have the odd bet but i always found these kind of places so depressing.

Up the Albion!

It's going to be a six storey Ibis Hotel. Drive along Frederick Place at the moment and you will see a bloody great pile of hardcore where it's been demolished at rear down to basement level.
