You've had a cracking start and if you carry on like this till christmas then your manager is going to be in demand, especially as he was a bit of a face before Brighton. Can you keep him till the end of the season?

Ok I'll bite.

Yes, definitely.
The summer will be twitchy.
For the summer after that, not to be doom and gloom, we'd need to have a blinding championship season.

There will be three sackings in the premier league by Christmas. Can you hold him if one of these one calling?

He hasn't achieved anything yet.

Also i don't get the feeling he's greedy. I think he would genuinely rather spend a few years learning his trade in the lower leagues before making the big step up. And then it would have to be with the right club with the right reasons, not just money.

i reckon he'll be around until at least the end of the 2011 -12 season.......if we go up this year he will want to underline the ability of the team that he has assembled...!!! if we choke and don't go up , i would be worried.........if we go up he'll stay.

Gus's footballing style is patient build up with a large slice of flair and measure of determination. i would imagine this is a reflaction of the man. why would he leave with a job half done? He will leave, probably after a season at Falmer (assuming he doesnt achieve back to back promotions...)

actually why would he leave then? he has 20 years of managment ahead, he might have a target to get us to the Premiership and take 5 years at it.

yes, because they will be shit teams playing shit. become the next Hodgson and ruin his reputation so early?

Oh good grief, if a Prem or Championship club comes in and offers to double his money he will be off in a puff of smoke, and you couldn't blame him.

ALL of us would vamoose if our salary was being doubled. I think Sir Gus has done a fantastic job for the club, but remember he spent the whole summer haggling over his contract, so let's not romanticise his commitment to the club too much.

I also feel with what he said about Calde when he nearly left (We gave him his chance, he shoudl have stayed with us) will apply to him (We gave him his chance he should stay with us). I get the feeling Gus will end up following the club. Not like we do but he will wish us very well and have very fond memories of us (like Bobby Zamora for example)

Erm, have you seen our brand spanking new ground? We are on the up and this is a ride even Gus won't want to get off of. Keep the Faith

This is undoubtedly true, and I thought he had pretty much said as much. Enjoy him while he's here, and hope he lasts the season with us - anything longer is a bonus.

.

If that is the case he will be gone within a couple of months, because I'm 100% certain that someone will, given the go ahead by Bloom, offer at least that.

I for one think you are wrong, we won't have to wait long to find out but I think he has something a bit special here and is enjoying the ride himself.

Yes, but that's a big if. Paul Ince had a fantastic managerial record in the lower league and didn't last half a season in the Prem (and Poyet has less managerial experience than Ince had). I think that Prem clubs would be a bit wary of taking on Poyet just yet.

Championship possibly, but clubs near the top aren't going to replace their manager and would clubs near the bottom hold much attraction for the man?

Don't forget that he's on a four-year contract so it will also take a fair bit of dosh to prise away. That would be a big gamble for a struggling Championship club to take.

I think if we win the league and start doing well in the Championship, then we'll see some serious interest

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Im 100% sure he will be leading us out at Falmer in the Championship

I get the feeling Gus isnt one to just leave behind the work he has done unless its an out of this world offer.

IF we get promoted he would only leave for a Prem job in my opinion.

Why rise to it? Ignore this idiot. He isn't a Brighton fan and he's just stirring. Tedious twerp.

I am not stirring. Trust me there are easier ways to do this on nsc.

It was a serious question (thread implies as much) and I have been surprised by the answers.

He'll be with us till at least the summer of 2012.
He's not stupid he's got the chance to build himself a real reputation here. He must've sat back too & watched so many other 'up & coming' managers get big jobs too early make a pigs ear of it & ruin their reputation as a result.

I believe he sees us as a 'project'. Success by the first team is very important but he also has a bigger vision, i.e. to influence and shape the whole club so that all levels of it are aboard the 'Gus bus'. That takes time and I am sure he'll want to see it through. If something/some club does tempt him away, I do hope that the board find someone who is willing to build on what Gus has started and not want to rip it up and start again.
