Their league is really only a 5 mega team league. With 2 periphery teams that could be big. This doesn't compare favourably with the Premiershit which has real strength in depth with a glut of dormant big clubs trying to break through. The attendances prove this with only 1 team averaging below 20,000 in the Prem. Can SerieA say the same?

Juventus Man Utd
Milan Arsenal
Inter Chelski
Roma Liverpool
Lazio Newcastle
------------ -------------
Sampdoria Man City
Parma Tottenham
------------- Leeds
Everton
Middlesborough
Aston Villa
Birmingham

Although any of their top5 teams would probably beat our 'big 5'.
further down i don't believe SerieA would stand a chance if the likes of Brescia,Perugia,Empoli had to come up against Blackburn,Fulham,Bolton(not big clubs but money to burn)

I care that my country is a richer, more exciting and successful footballing hotbed than Italy and everywhere else.

I care about that alot.Would you want Brighton in the 3rd tier of the French league?

Sorry, my post wasn't aimed at you in particular. I was just pondering over who on NSC really gives a flying one about the Iti league. Surely there are websites dedicated to such manotony?

NSC is a broad church. If we can find room for endless threads of made up insults then surely it's ok to discuss Italian Football

Siena ? it means nothing to me.
They're a team that every Albion supporter can relate to.

Founded at the start of the 20th century, they've spent most of their history in third and fourth tier leagues, but have recently come to life and progressed rapidly up the pyramid, achieving promotion to Serie A for the first time this season.

They play in a leafy athletics stadium that is now quite inadequate to their needs - but they have plans for a new stadium on the edge of the city. With the backing of the City Council, it should be ready in a couple of years time.

And I support them, because - years ago - I lived there for fifteen months and followed them when they were rubbish.

All I have to say on the subject of Italian football is that
