It's a good decision for them only because it offers them one last life line!

If you were against it and were expecting a Stadium yes vote then you would be chuffed to bits with this.

From our point of view we are simply humouring them. Don't forget, after this Inquiry is over the NIMBYs will have no grounds to object to any decision made by JP.

from their point of view they will argue another site (sheepcote probably) and see that Falmer is not the right one and that they have won, in their eyes they have forced us to look elsewhere.

In our eyes we prove there is nowhere else and Falmer it is.

In my eyes i'm 50/50 as I'm still confused by some things and theres alot of people on this board with blue n white tinted specs on....reality people, we have NOT got Falmer yet, JP can still say NO or Build elsewhere which would cost a bucket load more than Falmer leaving us up shits creek!

The fact that he has read the report that suggests that that falmer is not the right place and agreed with it, and has started to look at other places.

i do agree it has become a political decision and has made both sides happy, so there is no trouble when they are down at brighton centre

He would have said NO already and said go back and find another site. Not have it further included in the Inquiry that no other sites are viable first.

It has more to do with politics than i think we realise, the election is less than year away now and i think this is there last major meet up before then. It would look very bad if it was one big protest

Prescott has done this to stop anychance of a judicial review. Once we tick the last box that'll be it and theres sod all the NIMBY fuckwits can do about it.

There will be one anyway. Prescott has seen all the evidence on Falmer and has not said no to it. If Falmer was not a good enough site for him then he would have to rule it out and the inquiry would be over. He cannot get evidence on alternative sites all of which will be rejected and then say, you can't have Falmer either because I don't think it is a good enough site and oh yeah I should have told you six months ago.

It's been said before and I'll say it again. If Falmer wasn't on the table he would have said NO.

He didn't. So if the NIMBYs think that JP has given the red light to Falmer they are WRONG. That is not because I'm biased. That is beacuse it is fact.

Of course there is the possibilty both sides could win. i.e. We want a stadium. NIMBYs don't want a stadium IN FALMER. If we build else where then I'm still happy. All I want is a stadium to watch footy in. However, from the constraints JP put down in the letter under which ANY site must comply with. Falmer is still easily the best site. In fact is definitely is out of the six mentioned. The only unknown in all this is if another site is proposed but let's face it if there was another site it would have cropped up by now. Dick Knight has been open for suggestions for years now and no one has come up with an alternative.

Falmer really is the only site in the Brighton and Hove area that can meet ALL the requirements. That is not truth, it's FACT!

FFS what sort of letter were you expecting?

Dear Sir,

yes.

regards

John Precott.

He has stated AS FACT that Falmer meets all the requirements. He just wants to make sure there are no other sites in the area that could ALSO meet the requirements.

I think the NIMBYs will have a strong time promoting another site's worth, especially seeing as we will be able to refute all of their arguments. I know we are a poor club but surely we have got more financial, legal and research clout behind us to prove once and for all that the other sites are not viable.

It's not written as a yes beacuse it isn't. If it was we'd be build there tomorrow (well I would).

All he is saying is that there is nothing wrong with Falmer (i.e. written as a no) but as it is a green filed site he must be absolutely sure there are no alternatives before he can give his 'yes' letter.

I'm sure every Albion fan who has been around the last few years will KNOW that the other possibilities have been done to death and have always been foun wanting. Prescott obviously wants this stated categorically to avoid a judicial review.

correct! They will have to go just short of designing a stadium to prove the site is viable. The club did so why shouldn't they. We simply come up with the obvious and expensive drawbacks.

The shoe is on the other foot!
