Neither here nor there
The issue in the North last season was that the North West exit was closed so everyone had to walk through the concourse to get out and met a lot of people going the same way.

Even when we went to leave an hour later we still had to leave by North East exit.

In addition they didn't open the large exit where players used to go, but expected everyone to leave via the turnstiles exit. This caused a number of stoppages of people trying to get out and a lot of pushing and a bit of a crush.

Whole thing was nuts and scary.
In addition to that, though, as others have said, police and stewards were turning people back from the chip van area and so you had hundreds of people pushing towards the South Stand and others who were still heading in the other direction towards the ramps and the train station. So two large groups of people, crushing against each other as they headed in opposite directions.

Yes, this was also the plan last year but seemingly wasn’t communicated to the police or they misunderstood.
Hmmm I am flip flopping as to whether to let my sons go (9 and 11). Originally I was thinking not mainly due to school night, but now there are school strikes I was more tempted. But now this thread has me lurching towards not taking them again.

Seems like there is a lot of good feedback on here as to what went wrong last year, if only we had a Fan Advisory Board to pass that back to the club and ask them to action it...

I'd take them

The crushes in the goldstone ground were character building . Lets face it , nothing at the amex has ever got close to those levels of health and safety . Will be fine and be good for them to witness some poison in the air

NW exit was closed isnt that against health and safety i.e. no emergency exit?

Dont fans reps read this forum cant they convey the utter confusion the instructions from the club and interpretation has already caused. Im not blaming anyone all i think needs doing is clear clarification to all. Closing NW exit is unbelievable. Police and club need to join the dots up.

The red line will be a barrier

People going to the station will go their normal way

People going to the coach park from west and assume home south west corner will need to walk all the way around the stadium via north and east stands

The club say: "As with previous matches against Crystal Palace, the club will be also implementing various safety measures towards the end of the match, where supporters leaving the Amex to reach the coach park, park and rides and car parks, will be directed clockwise to reach their destination." Now its not overly clear WHICH car parks they refer to as the one at BACA Bridge would be ludicrous to walk there clockwise from East and North (and if there is a 'wall' preventing movement by South impossible). BUT trains are affected unless you make it clear ONLY walk clockwise for the coach/ParknRide.car pk (except Bridge) . But the messages doesn't mention trains. Perhaps I didn't read it properly BUT given many will have read this thread on here and haven't pointed that out Im assuming there WILL be plenty confused and going in all directions. Add to that police and club talking different languages and yeah I can see how it all got messed up previously. I seem to recall this was fed back to the club afterwards but really the club are at the mercy of the police if they don't comply with what the club have in mind and tell fans. If the police read it everyone goes clockwise I can see how the confusion arises.

I took this route from West stand last year to get back to coach park ... as suggested by someone on here. Worked really well. Hopefully OK to do it again this year!

that makes more sense to do, last year leaving the north and having to head to the coach park was absolutely ridiculous and dangerous, the crush was horrible especially for my son who’s not very big for 9 years old….. will definitely be taking this route thanks

I take the above route most games after leaving the west

Didn’t even know about the commotion on the day until the coach was delayed leaving

I am worried about getting hemmed in after the game, having read this thread I am still confused as to what measures are in place tonight to keep the fans separated?

I am sitting in the East Upper and will be walking to the bridge car park.

Could someone please advise?

Exit, turn left, walk to car.

Edit: then sit in car for an hour whilst they try and fit an adult cow through the eye of a needle repeatedly.

What the club want is for you to leave and at the exit turn left. The down side is that you'll be meeting head on those from the rest of the ground who have to walk from the west all the way round to get to the coaches and P&R

Won't know until we're leaving the stands. The official line so far is you'll have to turn right and go by way of the south stand to get the the bridge.

*EDIT* doesn't help the guide doesn't clarify this: https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/news/3108922/travel-information-crystal-palace/ and just says fans need to go clockwise to get to carparks/coaches but nothing about the station.

But that is what I want to do, namely come out of the East Stand Upper and simply turn left to go to the bridge car Park. But that is anti-clockwise, though by far the most sensible route. I emailed the club imploring them to be specific and received a reply stating blandly that I must follow the clockwise route, which would mean I would have to walk past the South and then all the way round to the West stand to get to the pathway leading to the Bridge Car Park. Madness, considering, as I understand it, the Palace lot are being kept in the stadium.

And their guide doesn't even mention about how to get to the station!

That would be anti clockwise….
Confusion reigns. Surely if Palace are being kept in it doesn’t matter which way people walk ? That used to be part of the point of keeping away fans in.

it's clockwise if you need to get to the coach park. problem is the time they are kept in is limited by the time of their special train. they escort them round via the west stand down to the station hence those from South west and north having to follow the clockwise route
