Seats

b.w.2 - I wouldn't disagree with that. The problem as I see it is that the Withdean NIMBYs are working the opposition to the extra seats (as they have done for years). And new Tory councillors are very susceptible to the notion that the "loyal" thing is to support Tory voters (and established Tory councillors) in the Withdean area.

It's what happens when people decide to vote in local elections to "teach Blair a lesson", rather than elect a local council that will do things that local people want.

Disagree m'lud. This boolean shit over the seats has been dragging on for about eighteen months now. And teaching Blair a lesson is a moral must. Just like it will be with heavy heart that some of us will do our very best to kick out our local Labour MPs (nothing personal, like) should the Falmer decision show the same level of contempt for the wishes of the electorate on a local level.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that you shouldn't teach Blair a lesson. I'm merely suggesting that the Carden Avenue parking proposal would have sailed through if the Council still had an overall Labour majority.

:glare: In reply to 'dave the gaffer' I am or never was in any way connected to the Archer gang and it's offensive for you to suggest that.
From the other comments on this thread it's clear that there is a lot of concern about this 'silly' seat saga.
Be assured Dave I have no hidden agenda and at least I use my own name rather than hiding behind some stupid name that means nothing.
I conclude by saying I have been a supporter of this club since 1948 and nowadays I travel from HELSINKI for home matches, does that add up to being a 'shit stirrer'(your words not mine)

Perhaps we can call you Helsinki Gull:wave:

My understanding was that most of the "new" seats would be taken up by an increased allocation for away supporters when we were last in Division 1. Since we got relegated the need was not so pressing, esp with the public enquiry to pay for.

Merely a matter of managing your resources effectively, rather than throwing hard earned cash at a problem that no longer neeeded solving.

If the club was to ask for our help I'm sure there are lots of supporters who would be more than happy to lobby councillors of all political colours asking why has this application not proceeded etc....and despite some Tory NIMBYs I'm sure the proposals have the backing from councillors in all parties.

Just blaming people for not voting Labour is a bit off the mark, IMO.
