It was two herring gulls, the pigeon was a bit ****ed to start with so they were arguing over it - one got it's head and the other flew of with the rest of it it to feed to it's young.

There were several seagull chicks on a neighbour's roof. Then the magpies ate them. Isn't nature wonderful.

Do nothing-is just a practice fly as they build up their chest muscles needed for flying-gulls are really quick to get flying so will be a matter of days/couple of weeks before they are off.maybe put some food such as oily fish-sardines etc out for mum so she can get them flying ASAP?
For other posters-herring gulls are protected-so 6 months inside and/or £20,000 fine if found to be causing distress such as moving chicks/eggs/firing at them.
The council would not go near them at this time, for this reason-that's what being a protected species means.

Why the f**k are they protected ? They're not exactly in danger of extinction!!

In Gibraltar they cull 'em. Faced with a similar problem you'd call up a marksman from the Royal Gib Regiment and the rest, as they say, would be history!!

They're Mediterranean gulls which are plentiful. Our local species is Herring gull which are low in number. We do have some black headed gulls, and Greater/Lesser black backed gulls but they don't tend to nest on house roofs.

They're not low in number around here! Surely there must be some bye-law that would enable the Council to move them on, just like they do with Travellers ....... Oh, hang on!!
