Albion are back at work today – but David will not be among the players reporting for duty.
The out-of-contract midfielder is still weighing up his options, which include a new one-year deal with the Seagulls.
David and his representative are keeping a keen eye on events at The Amex and are aware of last night’s developments.
The Spanish playmaker has suitors in England and in the top tier in his native Spain. But he was happy in the Brighton area and had made a big impression on fans and team mates.
David would be open to a return to Albion if a manager who has similar footballing principles to Gus Poyet, who signed him last August, was in charge.
