Thinking about recent CPFC v BHAFC "which is the bigger" club debates on this site . . .

All a bit one-sided until you get Falmer, so travelling support might be a clearer indication.

The stats below are for Prem fixtures rather than Fizzy Pop league - but I wouldn't know how to take that into account for the purposes of this unscientific exercise - so I'm assuming the opposition is equal value and just guaging the level of "loyal" support.

Average Palace away support so far this season: 2,130. (Best 3,500 at Fulham, worst 950 at Boro)

Just for info, away fans at Selhurst average 2,220. (Best 3900 from Spurs, worst 692 (!) from Bolton)

Anyone got figures for Seaweed?

Victor Bhanerjee's notebook
35,657 strands washed up at Hove

52,346 washed up at Worthing

1,789,007 washed up on a beach near Montery Ca.this was as a result of an underwater earthquake which decimated an entire kelp forest.

Does that help?

Wouldn't be fair to compare with away fans at Withers, as most will now know to avoid it, but our away support averages over 1,400. (From last programme - excludes Spurs and Cardiff).

One of the best in the division, I wouldn't doubt, but not sure where the full stats may be available.

Ok best was actually 5,400.

Total away attendance that we have figures for (so not including Cardiff) is 28,371.

Average away attendance is therefore:

1,773(.1875)

Not bad I think you will agree for a team struggling for much of the season and playing in the Championship.

Richie, I don't think it's fair to include the Spurs figure, as it was a bit of a "special", plus not a league game.

Perhaps Attilio should look up last season's figures in this division, and bear in mind it was a promotion season for them.

Total away attendance AT Withdean (not including Derby or Millwall) is 8,329

Therefore average number of away fans at Withdean is: 520

Highest number: Gillingham 755
Lowest number: Bristol Rovers 181 (Cup)
Rotherham 195

1773.1875 exactly......

I wonder who the .1875 were

Dear Mr Palace fan, can you check your fugures, as my mate who is a Croydon Cretin, thinks that your figures are slighty wrong.

Ok,

Total away attendance not including Spurs is 22,971

Therefore average LEAGUE away attendance is: 1,531.4

Highest being the 2,929 at Reading on the opening day.

I'm going by the figs in Saturday's match programme. But I'll doa quick double-check. . .

A more direct comparison would be to use your away figures from last season as a lot of people will be going to grounds they haven't been to for a while (Old Trafford, Goodison etc) plus there must be a sense of "well, we may not stay up so we had best make the effort".

We played in this league two years ago, although we thought we were going to go down, we had been to most of the grounds.

Going by the programme, I'm right.

Albion Rob: Yeah, that suggestion was made earlier - I'm trying to find the figs now . .

That would be true if we'd played 15 away games, but it's 16 (not counting Cardiff, of course).

So the average is 1,435.68 according to my Excel spreadsheet - as I posted some 15 minutes ago! (Well, I said it was "over 1,400")

Attilla Thanks, I was only going by what my mate says, he reckons that Brighton get more away fans than Palace, but to be fair he may have been talking about last year.

Okay! Like for like figs for CPFC in Div One last year.
Yes, it was a promotion year - but we didn't realise that until February!

So: Average away support 1,330.
Best: 4745 at Wimbledon!
Worst: 230 at Stoke. :nono:

Curses! Slightly behind the Weed! :shootself

well, just over 200 then. as i said on the other thread- a palace mate of mine has been to 5 brighton away games- and he definately reckons our away support is better in terms of number and singing.

We are pretty much on a par, a few hundred here or there isn't going to make a big difference.

But at least we take class with us, rather than caravans :salute:
