Scouts miss local talent/Albion Youth 100% Success

being hailed the new david Beckham is a bit OTT but the Argus reports on A Hove Rivervale youngster (aged 7) spotted by Real Madrid and his family now moving to Spain such is the talent and belief he will be as big as Wayne Rooney. Get the feeling anoither local potential star has failed to be spotted by the so called scouts the club have.

I also argue that the Euro govern football bodies should stop this happening to youngsters at least under 11 as its too young to be taking the fun of growing up (not saying football isnt) just that thyey should IMHO be without any added pressures of trying to emulate David Beckham.

I also wonder to what level the Albion scouts do their scouting locally and at what level/age/grading etc.

Anyway good luck to the kid though it does leave me feeling are we once again as a club in this wide-spread county missing out on local talent oh yes of course weve had Ian Chapman and beyond playing but maybe we've also missed the odd one or two too.

even though many say they are not wortthy of the exams of the past they are here and a Well done the Albion youth players that passed their A level exama showing theyve sum brains not just a good pair of feet in a pair of football boots, Jake Robinson included  long may the great Dean Wilkins work with these youngsters to turn them into the Wayne Rooneys of the future.

Cant expect our scouts to watch every bloody kid under the age of 10 can you FG?!

As for Euro rules I highly agree, he basiaclly will get a crap education and be forced into football and no doubt have a career threatening injury by the time he's 16 meaning he'll be dumped on the streets with no grades and no where to go:nono:

I'm astounded that a kid of 7 can show that much promise. He must have been doing nothing but playing football since he started crawling.

A couple of my mates kids have been mad on football for as long as I remember and are much better than all their peers, but surely at that age there's plenty of time to be caught up and overtaken.

I agree that clubs shouldn't be able to take kids away from their roots so young, though. That's just ridiculous, and no amount of money would make me do that to my lad. He's 7 himself, and I'd rather he just enjoyed playing football at the moment, rather than start being groomed for stardom already.

Why aren't kids allowed to be kids any more?

You should have seen the shambles in that area 6-10 years ago.

You mean when the likes of Virgs, Hinsh, El-Abd, Jakie, etc were in their early teens and presumably picked up by the club? ???

Having had first hand experience of how the club scout youngsters I have to say they're pretty good. With very very few excpetions the ones they took from my son's age group where all the best players of their Year, not just people who had one good game. The only problem is that Palace and Portsmouth are also active in this area so they have to get in quick, or hope that the lad really wants to play for Brighton.

This incidentally isn't the first Brighton schoolboy Madrid have approached. My friend's son is an excellent player (got picked up by Pompey first sadly) and he was asked in the summer if he was interested. He said he'd rather stay with Portsmouth!

I don't know... if my kid ever showed the potential to rake in as much money as Rooney or Owen, I'd ship the little bastard off to the highest bidder. As it's beginning to look increasingly unlikely that my own footballing prowess is going to be sufficient to provide me with a life of financial security, I may well start living my own failed life through whatever offspring I may produce.

The rules in this country do not allow us to sign seven-year-olds, but we do have well over 100 (probably nearer 150) between 9 and 16.

Is this actually true? I ask because at Watford I bumped into a mate who had with him an 8 year old who had just signed a contract with Brighton saying that he is only allowed to play for the Albion and his school team. His first game was to be the next day against Orient. Guess what piece of advice he received from bha.fatboy..... "make sure you kick the bastards up in the air!!" Quality. :lolol: :lolol:

Isn't there also that "turn up and play" thing at Preston Park on a Saturday run by the Albion where kids who are little more than toddlers can get some coaching?

Anyone who is keen on their kid playing for the Albion can take their tinies along.

With a Spanish mum and a dad who works in Madrid - I guess this kid was always going to be taken along to a different club.
