Seems quite a few of us aren't convinced that he's on his way to Reading. Are we the naive ones?

We'll know soon so tell us what you think - a bit like predicting the blues, except we only play this game once year, how many of us will get it right??

Unashamed topical bounce :bounce:

We only have to wait another day - I'm afraid I think he'll leave though.

Coppell if you are reading (like the pun!:lolol: ) this, please make my birthday an extra special one by sticking with Brighton

I really can't call it. He knows that the pressure will be enormous - Madjeski wants a return on his investment this year, not in a year's time. The contract is not that dissimilar to what he's getting here - and apparently there's a Director of Football he's got to answer to - and SC is very much his own man, as we know.

But he also knows that it will be a few years before we get our bums on seats at Falmer - can he wait that long?

Oh go on..... I think he'll stay. I think he's a man of principle and honour.

Wrong.

madjeski has said numerous times that he is only interested in consolidation of their league position for the next few seasons, Reading are not in a position to be a Premiership team yet.

Contract not too dissimilar to the one here, gimme a break!! they are offering him in the region of 200k, I would doubt very much that is he is on anywhere near a 100k here.

We've got a director of football haven't we (albeit a shit one)??

goodbye Mr Coppell

The mistake I think you're making Dwayne is confusing what you would do for money with what SC might do. I'm not convinced money is the motivator with SC.

I've held onto some optimism about this but after listening to him being interviewed on SCR yesterday I got the depressing feeling that this was a man starting to justify his departure.

It's obvious he hasn't - and won't - make a snap judgement based on money and status alone. Because he isn't that sort of bloke and those personal qualities make the thought of losing him all the worse. The trouble was that the more he praised the Albion, the more it sounded like a farewell speech.

...anyone pick up on the quote yesterday.

"YOU won't go wrong with a defence like that for the rest of the season"

Just as football has the ability to surprise us all with an 'impossible' result, maybe SC will do what we least expect - and stay.

I know that he's a cautious person, and places great emphasis on preparation, but I just feel that if he was going to move he would have done it by now. Also, and I stand to be corrected, I don't think that he's ever broken a contract mid-season. Sure, he's been sacked - but I don't think he's ever left willingly. That's why he's seen as a man of integrity.

We can all be cynical about this and assume that he'll chase the money, but I just think that SC would want to see the season out with us. On the other hand, perhaps he'd see taking us to the top of the league as 'job done'.
