Hanbury is going to be opening again in july as proud galleries, pretty much cabaret and the like, which to means seems f***ing wank.

Signed. Bad news about the Engine Room too.

I'm hoping the Hanbury can return to it's former glory as a well used venue rather than the poncified cocktail bar it recently became. Lovely venue but absolutely the worst bar and bar staff I have encountered at any music venue in Brighton.

The Camden Proud Galleries regularly puts on gigs so hopefully the Brighton one will do the same. A cabaret venue, as you say, will be total f***ing wank.

I've seen Pulley and Ten Foot Pole and My Deaf Audio in that place, great memories!

Isn't there more we can do? The Freebutt is an institution, its a proving ground for local bands, and where I saw my first ever gig and many many gigs since. There must be thousands and thousands of people who went through their younger years seeing college bands at the Freebutt.

The Fatherland
I heard today that some councillors have come out in support of the Freebutt and the hope is that the EHO will back off a bit.

I f***ing hope so as I've booked the venue for my wedding afterparty.
