supposedly left months ago - ‘wasn’t suited to our setup’ for those without access

Never even realised that RDZ had brought such a bloke with him. Probably a bit of a redundant role from day 1.

Why the need for him in the first place? RDZ will know which players he likes the look of anyway. He tells the club, and if they want to take things further the recruitment team take care of it.

Presumably he'd recommended players to Roberto before coming here, and Roberto respected his opinion. Roberto won't know the capabilities of all footballers around the world, he wants advice before making his own decisions.

There is a whole team at the Albion dedicated to that very task anyway.

He was familiar with RDZ and the type of players he likes.

Now the club know what types of players he likes, or RDZ trusts the clubs recruitment model (which he has praised a lot recently).

I wonder whether Roberto takes much active involvement in recruitment at all. He comes across as a coach first, working with what he has. Like others have said, we already have a recruitment team so I'd imagine he's happy to work with them suggesting the sort of player he would like to have (rather than act like prima donnas, like Jose, who are always moaning about recruitment and, one suspects, demanding we sign players X and Y)

Our pursuit of Matviyenko was supposedly driven by RDZ.

They player he'd previously managed at another club?

Is RDZ the new....Micky Adams?

Nobody wants that
