If you are flying Qatar or Emirates, the service will be first class. Don't know the others.

I lived in Dubai for six years and we nearly always flew Cathay Pacific. Top, top quality airline, as is Malaysian. Most US / UK airlines are shit in comparison, as generally the staff have forgotten that they are there for your benefit and comfort.

Don't even get me started on Air France.

I'm going Etihad who are based in Abu Dhabi. Look okay and if they compete with Emirates they should be. Agree about Air Ponce, flew with them once and it was dire, from start to finish. My one flight with the Luftwaffe was another less than brilliant experience too.

MYOB - You are talking complete crap.

BAs site is excellent - I have booked and flown at least a dozen times in the past six months with them and every time spot on. On line check in is superb as well - you can arrive less than an hour brfore your flight leaves.

Lets start with the problems with BA's site:

I go to BA's site, it doesn't know where I'm from. I get a list of countries, Irelands not in it. Theres a non-scrollable dropdown box which means it takes me 30+ seconds to find Ireland, I'm now through to the frontpage.

I go to Ryanair's site, I'm on the frontpage for Ireland straight away.

Picking flights is much of a muchness between the two of them - if you're going return. One way, however (yeah, I know its not common but its what I do most often) - is a complete bitch with BA.

BA - chose the "one way" link, get brought to a new page. Wait will it faffs around. Enter details, get offered to chose "best fares" or "specific flights", no way to get a full listing for the day I've selected. Select one or the other, get brought to a page that hence only has half the results.

Ryanair - click the one way/return checkbox on the front page selector, click go. Full listing of flights appears.

They both have online check-in.

I've spent the last 12 months working on web application usability for internal applications in work, so believe me when I tell you BA's site is counter intuitive in nearly everything it does.

Plus their in-flight magazine, Open Skies, publishes features written by me every month or two, so that makes them first class in my books... :clap2: :clap2:

my father used to recon the two worst airlines were sabena ( belgium?) and the Luftwaffe ( lufthansa)

the best he reconed was Venezuelan Airlines ( seemly they didnt believe in seat belts and everyone had a transister radio clamped to their ears) It was like being in a very good B movie

They don't put the magazine online...
What are they about? Is it the bit about which films are on which channel? Or the bit where you can purchase a miniature plane on a stand to put on your desk?

Sadly nothing as exciting as miniature planes on stands. They buy articles from a syndicating agency I contribute to, as do several other airlines. They've published my musings on dark matter, Kenyan athletes, the new underground system in Athens, etc, etc... You know - the kind of articles you flick past without reading, perhaps being mildly diverted by the pictures, as you hurry towards a date with disappointment on realising that "Garfield 2" is the in-flight movie...
