By the way Twatty, we are 46 games away from the First Division, you are 46 games away from The Conference.

Plus we are also 92 games away from the Premiership, whereas LO are only 88 games away from the Premier division........

Twatford O also doesn't seem to understand that "46 games from Division 1", actually means you play 46 games in Division 2 first!!!

Illiterate and inumerate, that'll be Orient fans for you.

"Again, we'll never come here again" was the chant back in that championship season at Brisbane Road. If only Twatford O would follow suit on our board.

No. I think we'll be OK next season.

We've lost BZ but Knight is looking good.

SC is the main reason we will be OK. If last seaon had ended one month later, we'd still be in the First!

He will beg, steal or borrow but he will get the right players in.

Most of our squad is the same from last year, excluding BZ & PB. (I'll ignore GB & PK). We have since gained a Permiershite goalkeeper.

If you ignore our shit start to last year, our form for the last 2 thirds was mid-table. I can't imagine with that nucleus of players that we are in any danger of going down. My only concern is whether we will have the fire-power to win enough games.

The youngsters are improving still, and Marney, Wilko, Hinsh & Virgo will have gained experince from the tough battles last year.

I don't think that we will win the league (unless SC uncovers another good striker), but I think we stand a good chance of being play-off contenders.

That is all I expect, as Falmer is the real prize.

I can't wait :clap2: :flameboun

Or if Bobby had been trying hard and we had beaten Preston and Sheff Weds!

We're fine.

Goalkeeper - Roberts and Kuipers - Surely no one can complain!

Defence - Watson, Pethick, Cullip, Mayo, Blackwell, Virgo, Hinshelwood.. No worries.

Midfield - Best holding two in the league in Chippy/Rodger. Can't fault Harty on the right. Maybe Knight will play on the left in a Brooker role? The Piercy, Oatway, Jones. No problems. Marney looks very promising too.

Strikers - Knight who has hit 16 in this league before. McPhee, Wilson-Denis. I'm sure we'll get someone else in before Oldham. If not we have such a good side we'll create so many chances we're bound to score goals.

No worries. Relegation!!!??? No chance!!!! Muppets!!!

A couple of facts I remember from last season were:

In the early part of 2003 I read that the Albion hadn't won a game when BZ didn't play - which even with being in Div 2 this season doesn't sound promising.

A mate told me that Guy Fatters had a contract clause when he signed that he would be on the same as the clubs top earner...I guess it would have been BZ on say, £5k a week? That now means that with BZ gone, he must be the top earner which if all the above is true, is :censored:

Colchester 1-3 Albion

"3-0 to the one man team"

Bobby was exceptional but his goals CAN be replaced. He cant but the goals can.

Forgot to add - there's been loads of comments about how Knight will do well for us this season but as per the BBC website...."Brighton have completed the signing of Chelsea striker Leon Knight on a two-month loan deal. "

Will be nice having him until mid October but unless his loan gets extended or we get a(nother) decent striker, there's a long way to go until early May...(err, about 7 months)

Knight has said himself he would like to be with us longer than 2 months.

He was completely wasted at Hillsborough last season and he's keen to get back on the goal trail again.

He's got absolutely no chance of first team football at Chelsea.

I think the 2 month loan is SC being cautious and if young Leon does well it will certainly be extended for the season

We're going up as champions. Our central midfield is absolute class and we work harder as a team than most others. We have a top-drawer centre back, full-backs who have been dominant in this division before and two keepers who should be playing at a higher level. Leon Knight is a quality striker that just needs to find his feet again. We'll get at least one other front man in with a track record and we'll be firing. Bobby did all the scoring before, so now we get a potent partnership instead.

Now, i'm one of life's proud pessimists, but this is getting dull.

I agree. I think we'll be going up automatically. We've probably got the two best keepers in the league, Watson will get his confidence back at this level so our defence will be sorted - and I expect Hinselwood to make his mark alongside Danny. In midfield we'll have Hart, Chippy, Rodger, Jones, which is just as good as the midfield we had the last time we won the title, and up-front Leon will score lots. One more forward (and that could be McPhee or Robinson) then we'll score loads too.

We're going up, as we've got the best team & best manager

Come on, you just have to be positive before the season starts.

If we are in the bottom half after Xmas get despondant but for Gods sake, we've still got Coppell, the best manager in the division, loads of players with first division experience and many of the team that won the second division championship. How can we possbly fail?

We are going up.:clap2:

Having seen us at Barnet, I thought that we only looked weak in 2 areas. We need an experienced, and robust, striker to partner Leon up front and we could do with more attacking options on the left; there was a lot of space there we failed to exploit.

Another observation from Barnet is that Butters should never be allowed near the first team again although the proximity of the catering facilities to the pitch at Underhill may have been a serious distraction for him

I am fully confident we will have a good season in Division Two – where we will be pushing for promotion.

Coppell knows what he is doing and has an eye for decent signings. The team that ends a season does not always contain the same players who started it. So with further strengthening added to the players already at the club like Kuipers, Cullip, Mayo and Chippy and recent signings Roberts and Knight I am sure we have an exciting season coming up.
