I don't blame DK because our hands are tied by Falmer, but there must be some others out there think we're going to have a real rough season ahead? Kitson, Barrett and BZ all gone and nobody of any quality to replace them - my Barnet scouts said Leon Knight's just too small to really make a difference up front. Not worried about the back, but if Danny and co keep 'em out you still have top score to win games and I can see a lot of 1-0 defeats, and 1-1's giving us a lot of problems problems on the points front unless we get some new blood to share the responsibility in Bobby's absence. Face the facts: the rest of the team were goal shy in Bobby's absence; Chris McPhee is a quality non-league striker a la Scott Ramsey; and Albion never finish mid-table, it's either up or down (or thereabouts)! Somebody calm my nerves but I can see relegation run-in next year. And is any money, even £50k going to be spent on Transfer fees, from the sale of BZ? I see my season ticket as more of a loan than value for money these days, despite the Ecovert robbery every match-day.

When's the decision on Falmer by the way? August or September? 2003?(!!)

All we need is a big striker to play alongside Leon and we should avoid relegation, i hear Akinbiyi isn't doing much these days?

Nope, it won't be rough at all.

Keepers - Roberts (premiership class) and Kuipers (we all know what he can do).

Defence - Yes. Blackwell is out but Captain Fantastic should have no problems marshalling the defence in the second div.

Midfield - May lack creativity at the moment but Phippy and Rodger are seasned pros and will be nice and solid.

Strikers - Still an issue but Knight will scare the shit out of defenders in the second.

Manager - Steve Coppell for crying out loud. If loaness like Knight keep coming we could do very well this year.

Akinbiyi would be amazing I think, I would love it if he was given a trial here. Damn good player on his day.

so the defence has one really good player, the midfield has no creativity, and a 5,4 midget will scare defences in the 2nd. I may have to use that razor blade myself!!

On the other hand, there can't be more than 4 or 5 teams with a better squad than us in division 2, and that's before Steve Coppell uses his legendary skills in the loan market.

Didn't think it was worth mentioning players that we know can perform at this level, ie Mayo, Watson, Hart, Jones, Marney, Piercy.

Doesn't look too bad.

We lack strength in depth, and during the two championship seasons were quite lucky with injuries.

Relying on loan players is risky - if they perform well, what's to stop 1st division clubs (or 2nd division clubs with more money) stealing players who've proven to be in a rich vein of form?

At the moment I'm not particularly upbeat (although still think we'll push for playoffs) as I am really upset that it appears Coppell has not been given even a snip of the £1m.

Agreed the defence is ok but Knight junior hasn't got too much pedigree and who else is going in to replace the rest of the front line we've just lost. By the way my Mr Barnet FC snout who's a personal friend of their chairman has confirmed we did make Agogo (before B.Rovers snapped him up for £75k) an offer but it was subject to money from any BZ transfer. Damn, because 3 weeks later Spurs came in with the great bobby robbery......
