Rooney: would he get a game for the Albion, discuss...

Leon has to start and after winning the play-off final penalty, I'd find it hard to drop big Chris.

I'd put Rooney on the bench. Bring him on around 70 minutes if we need to shake things up a bit.

I think he could also provide emergency cover at centre-back.

I'd have McPhee and Jake ahead of him as well. Rooney has to fight for his place. If he does something in the Sussex Senior Cup against Ringmer - stick him on the bench.

to me rooney would be like having geoff pitcher regular in the reserves but wouldn't get a look in for the 1st team and would probably spend most of his time out on loan to places like woking and farnboro :lolol:

I think he'd be a very good "squad" player to have on the bench and bring on if things are quite working.

possibly for Chris up front, just to confuse the opposition say on 70-80 minutes...

It would have to be pay as you play, game by game contract. Until he proves he good enuff (not yet convinced he is) for the mighty Seagulls!

Surely David Lee is worth a go before Rooney. He's got a 3-month contract, you know.

Got to agree: with David Lee here I can't see Rooney getting on, to be honest. OK, he's good enough player in his own way, but obviously he's not got the skill, application and instinct for goal of Lee. Particularly when the lad'll be wanting an extension to his contract - again.

And the same goes for Zidane, too.

Jurys out, good potential, get him in and ship him out to a lower div club on loan so he can gain some experience.

This really is nonsense. For christ sake, we need to be serious about *strengthening* our side - and the only way that Rooney will be in the stripes next season is to offer them Virgo for Rooney (+ cash). Do we really want to lose the nation's best full back to sign a teenager who we're not even sure could handle the step up in class?

Come on, get real. If Virgo goes to make way for Rooney, I'll rip my season ticket up. Well I would if I had one.

I reckon Rooney could learn a lot at Eastbourne Borough for a season, and then maybe get on the bench for us in the 05/06 season (if we haven't been promoted again of course, ahem). He's got the makings of a decent, solid lower-division player, although I suspect that he'd probably be best played as a defender. Sadly, he doesn't have the height to make a goalkeeper.

With that face he'd scare away all the kids, we could put him in a seagull costume though, or lend him to local farmers to keep the crows of the crops.

Well, after seeing him in the FA Cup v Shrewsbury season before last, when he was marked out of the game by the ageing Pete Wilding, I'd put him on the bench at best...
